anyhow, looks cool to me. watching a game with appz, bybben, fojji, and majc scouts should be quite amusing.
I think its a fun idea.
Allstars is the same in every sport/game around, pick good players from various teams and let them show why they are considered the best. (i want loads of airgibs :P )
Even though i think a vote could have made a different/better matchup, this seems good enough, I would watch that game.

come on mick! Your “Dont watch the game if you want to see good soldiers” is at best lol-worthy. There are alot of great soldiers around, not everyone can be included in the match.
Yeh, personally (and I stress that word “personally”) i would have liked to see for example gibb in the lineup, but I’ll survive, and will watch the match, because there isn’t a single sucky player in that list.
There’s no chance of this project producing negative PR for the TF2 scene, it will only make it better known, and lure possibly fresh meat to the scene.
Or are you saying some ppl go like “aaaw shite maaaaan, those soldiers were the suckness!!11 LOL no way i’ll even consider playing a game like thaaat!!!1 LOLOL”
high skill DM players aren’t necessarily good TF2 clan players; if they’re crap at playing with the rest of their team they’re no good to anyone.
Theres a good point and a bad point about it, the bad points already being said by *some*, the good points is that it deflates other peoples egos 8]

Drew, I do get your point. But this isnt about making a team that would be together for sometime, for example a cup etc. It’s 1 game, with SOME of the best fraggers around.
What atleast I expect to see in an All Stars game is some awesome solo performances for example crazy frags, awesome dodging and so on. Just like in basketball AS games ppl want to see awesome dunks and 3point throws and what not.
And I do assume that these players that play in the top clans do know all about map tactics and can with some talking make their game tactically valid. Hell, even mix teams with good communicative players can make tactics work….
I’ve already said this to the Quad V guys.. Source TV looks way better in free roaming mode, looking down on the action from afar.
People who want to watch proper fragging will watch fragging games.. like Quake 3 or Warsow.
TF2 should stick to what it was made for.. team play.
I don’t disagree that those teams look good on paper, I don’t even dispute alot of the choices made.. I just think the concept is far removed from what the game is all about, and it could end up making the scene look really stupid to outsiders – for a start the game is quite slow so the idea of ‘genius’ and ‘inspired’ frags must sound a bit ridiculous to Quake players and the like.
No-one’s explained why this is being kept a secret and why the #tf2.allstars channel is key’d – let me try with one word; ego. (not all the players have ego problems, just the organisers)
The list look good. The choices for demo is very weird though.

the match gonna be broadcasted in english and will be supported by the ESL!
that means that not only tf2 players will know about the match.. its gonna be set on the main page of the ESL site.. so its a big publicity for TF2.. just keep that in mind.
next point, i didnt choose the team by myself.. i asked lots of players for their suggestions.. you can ask riemu or bybben or sum other players takin part..
the reason why i didnt start a vote? becuase every1 would vote his darling/best friend.. so not skill would be the point, its more the fame or the being friendly to anybody.

@ all flamers: i gonna do that now, but its the last time i ever think bout doing sumthing for the community.. do what cha want.. continue with the project or kill it afterwards.. i really dont care!
@drew: hahaa.. the channel is key’d because we need to find a date for the match, which fits everybody..

Seems like false advertisement than, your promoting the game with some of the best players in europe who should able to pull off some ‘Good frags, good dodging’ etc. Truthfully though the top end of the TF2 competitve scene revolves around team work, not amazing air shots.
Additionally the finals of the EMS, the new ETF2L Cup and i33 will create alot more interest in TF2 from players, organisations and companies who could support the TF2 scene by advertising it and investing in the game. These finals will be the pinnacle of Europes best TEAM players therefore promoting TF2 for what it is, besides some of these players on your ‘All Star List’ will surely be in clans participating in the finals, therefore showing showing good frags but at the same time showing TF2 for what TF2 is.
On a positive note, i respect you for trying to gain more interest into Team Fortress 2, but the matter of the fact is the only people supporting you are those on the list and your team mates, apologies if i’m wrong here but from this thread alone i think there are alot of influential people in Team Fortress 2 who are against this and would much prefer an organised cup with the 8/16 top teams in Europe.
I have also noticed that some peoples egos have been tarnished by not being picked, not mine of course (Most evidently the best Demoman in Europe, jokes), seriously though if this was to be carried out would it not be best to have gone through a survey for example, you could have selected the top 8 teams in Europe than put everyones name from each of these clans into a survey which than could have run for a week or two, personally though i’m against the idea completely, but if it were to be done, thats the way forward.
