I’m using logitech mx510 and it’s good.

Never take advise from a Demoman; you can play that class on a joypad with a blindfold.

It depends alot on the class you play. A Solider will need a faster sensitivity than a scout, for example, as your movement speed is slower with the additional burden of having to lead the target. Smaller mice suit faster movement with fingertip control rather than palm control.

But what really improved my game was going from a cloth mat to exact mat, now the steelseries SX. On a cloth you have resistance everytime you move the mouse which slows you down whether you realise it or not. On the SX I literally feel no resistance, meaning I can reduce my sens for good control with the SG but still being able to 180º with ease.

There’s no doubt that small movements, say for long range ground shots at feet, is much easier on a hard mat than a cloth especially when your mouse has a high DPI – groundshots at distance being probably the hardest shots a solider can do.

My Mx510 broke, and then my Mx518 broke, (im not aggresive with my mouse, it just gets used alot) and now im using the G5 , obviously all three of these mice have the same shape , so ive been comfortable all the way.

To clutty only your first 2 have been opticals isn’t the g5 a laser?

op

Yeah G5 is a laser

Razer Lachesis(playing with this one for 3/4 year)
Razer Chameleon / Logitech MX series (with cord of course) (played with those for 1.5year)
A4Tech have suprisingly very good mices (but a lot of types/versions).

Note for lachesis: it is kinda small mouse, it is more for “crawl” hodlers and high sensitivity freaks, if you are not one, take some other Razer or different company.

and as it was stated above, what really improves any skill is good mouse pad //for instance:

X-Ray Thunder8
Razer eXact Mat / Rest
CyberSnipa

PS: some of the gamers are complaining about the durability and functionality of several mices….usually it is just fcuking dust/hairs/dust on sensor way, which cause very sensitive mices to beahve not so smoothly.

As well, the default “skate-stickers” are better to be replaced by some better ones.

Personally the Razer Lachesis is the worst gaming mouse I’ve ever tried. I bought mine on release for like £65, used it for about 2 weeks then never again. It does have the best laser out there, excellent tracking with none of the typical laser problems you get in other mice, BUT:

Worst ergonomic shape of any mouse I’ve ever tried. The shape is dismal to say the least. Its symmetrical on both sides so each side has 2 buttons but the buttons are way too resistant and in a really bad place (basically where you hold the mouse with fingertips because like the other guy says it suits fingertip/high sens gamers). I found the only way I could use the mouse well was to hold it with my pinky finger curled around so tip of my finger was touching the base of my finger. Any other way and I didn’t have the freedom of movement and my pinky would rub pretty badly against any the mousemat and almost dig into it due to the shape. This meant that some of my fingers were literally in pain after short sessions.

As with most Razer mice, the scrollwheel isn’t ideal for anyone who uses it for weapon switching in games. It doesn’t “click” between rivets like Logitech mice do. With my MX518 I can get the same freedom of movement with mouse holding with tips of thumb and pinky simply by holding the mouse further forward in my hand instead of palm-resting it, and with more natural and comfortable control.

Microsoft intellimouse explorer 3.0 is propably the best mouse ever maid.

Why to buy this newschool razer, why not to buy this oldschool and good gaming mouse?

Microsoft was there making mouses before this razer has even born, so let the Microsoft own!

Intellimouse 3.0 is best mouse with best optics ATM, so, its good.

Jh

Hey dats!

the 3.0 doesnt have the best optics… not even close. horrible negative accel and skips fairly easily. (the new version i mean, the old one is way better) That title belongs to the mx518 or the da.

People like it because of its ergonomics, started playing with one a long time ago and stuck with it.

KOVACS

/Agree with Jh

The Deathadder and MX518 are the only two mice with which I’ve experienced perfect tracking. The optical sensors in these mice are pretty much identical iirc. There is no negative accel, skipping or any other tracking issues with these mice on pretty much any surface imaginable.

Theres really nothing any laser mice can offer that would top this quality. Only equal it, obviously with the traditional higher dpi of Laser mice which is entirely a marketing scam at best and completely useless in reality.

1600/1800 dpi is all you’ll ever need in a mouse, even if you play ultra high sens, the difference in accuracy is statistically insignificant and completely negligable in terms of real affects.

kives

actually i did have something like mouse suddenly jumped over the screen with copperhead, using ultra high sens. not with lachesis and 4000dpi.

On that site are a few result of mice how they perform.

KOVACS , understand that Lachesis is not for all gamers. But ergonomics is in fact very good (for me) better than copperhead one.

I agree that logitech makes mices more ergonomics than Razer, but they are focused only for “right handed” gamers. Razer’s ones (most of them) are suitable for both right/left hand gamers :)

ad_wheel: i don’t see the point to hear some click when i am wheeling :), i just need wheel, get my gun and shoot, if i need 1 or 2 or 5 “wheel steps” to get it, it is matter of the configurator.

ad_dpi/sensitivity: yep it is marketing scum, :) but, 4000dpi + sensitivity=5 vs 1000dpi + sensitivity=10 is no the same, especially when you choose different pooling size. But a lot of dudes does not find the difference on very first look, but in game ? :)))))))) They was so suprised to see the difference (for instance i am using 1250DPI = sniper, 2000=almost all classes, 4000dpi=scout/pyro , maximum pooling, sensitivity 9.7 at game as well in mice drivers for X/Y 9.8 for overall 7.8.)

In fact on some setting you get pretty smooth movement for the second you might experience some flattering of cursor and you feel that hand is elsewhere when it should be according to the screen position.

On the end only skill counts

btw: nice overview :)

I’m playing with the Cyber Snipa S.W.A.T. laser mouse (800/1600 dpi). In-game mouse sensitivity 5. Great mouse. Before this I had a Saitek Gaming optical mouse. The Cyber Snipa suits me better I must say. For sniping/scout I play with 800dpi. With the side-button you can enable 1600dpi mode which I use for all other classes. 1 thing I find very handy are side-buttons. I use this for ‘spy last disguise’.

Also you should consider an gaming mousepad, if you don’t have this already :) Really makes a big difference, if you played – like me – with a regular mousepad.

GL with finding the right mouse for you dude.
