angryzor have made an IRC client for games powered by Valve’s Source engine
“SteamIRC is an IRC client for games powered by Valve’s Source engine (still a WIP though).
It allows you to bring up an IRC screen while playing, from inside the game, even in fullscreen mode. This UI stays in the main menu while you are playing, so you can easily have a look at what people said by just pressing ESC.
At the moment only games built on the Orange Box version of the engine are supported. This includes Team Fortress 2, Portal, Half Life 2 Episode 2, and probably many mods (like Synergy).”
Features
* Chat ingame on IRC in all Source games (Orange Box version). Includes channel and PM chat.
* Basic GUI capable of displaying the conversation in colors, and of course listing the users in the channel.
* Basic IRC commands implemented. (MSG, NICK, KICK, MODE, JOIN, PART, TOPIC, NOTICE)
That would be *AWESOME*…
would be nice if you could keep it open or something. Havent tried it yet, my question: Can you use it outside of the game still? (when minimized)
edit: to clarify, if you cant, then it’s scarcely of use imo, cause most have their clients on all the time.
That’s why you have clever little applications like ZNC that lets you connect multiple irc-clients to a single logon instance. Problem solved!
Anyway, as I said on gotfrag and Steam Forums, this’ll probably not work for long since this is using an exploit which could be used to load anything (including cheats).
I tryed it and its a great thing but i dont know how to speak with someone in private there can anybody help me :)
Quit is “Stoppen” and Send is “Zend”
i was rofl’ing
anyway i have 2 screens so i dont mind this plugin… :D

cmon guys is there no /… function for pm ? like /q “name” “text” <– this doesnt work :D
for now, you can send a PM by typing /msg [nick] [message]
First it will show as
-> *[nick]* [message] in the window you’re currently in.
If they reply, a PM window will be opened.
When i saw your comment i wanted to add the /q command, but have seen that my current design causes trouble when trying it. I need to seriously re-think it, but that’ll be for after the exams…
@Gryzor: thanks for the idea :)
I’ve seen that question/complaint a lot.
Added a tutorial on it to my site.
thanks alot angryzor
it works fine for me.
just one problem, i cant access on channels that have set key :/, is there solution?
good work anyway! :D
