Just wondered if you calculate KA/D and K/D by doing the math on your site or do you just do it with the KA/D and K/D given out by logs.tf?
Ehh, hope you understood what I´m talking about. Basically just came up with this cause logs.tf just gives a K/D of 0 when you die 0 times.

The system saw it was inso and gave him #1 by default
although actually toast is #1, new prem spy confirmed?

On the stats pages it’s calculated on the site. In the algorithm it isn’t used.
my stats haven’t been updating for about 7 days now. not sure if it’s a bug or if I’ve messed something up.

@teapot were your stats not updating or just the last modified date? They’re in the database but I think there might be a complication getting them out because the rating side of things went wonky. Just checking what your experience was, I will probably be able to revive them at some point if they aren’t being counted.
Are you gonna implement an algorithm which is based purely on wins? In dota2 you get 25 points for a win if the match was balanced and depending on the MMR difference you could get only 5 or get even 45. I feel discouraged to trying to raise my rank because I can’t be sure whether I did good or not.
Maybe putting this to tf2pickup only where the teams are randomized can help against stacking.

I think the stats are being updated with each game played but I think the ratings on each class and the last modified date aren’t updating.

OK, those should be working again now. There’s some strange stuff going on, particularly for new users, but that shouldn’t affect established players much for now.

I don’t want to sound rude but can you put a tl;dr of the answer? I know you have spend lots of time to write this but I’m too retard to read this much text.
I’m just pissed off when I go full tryhard mode as demoman and I don’t advance in rank but I can lose 0-5 as a soldier while going full yolo and still be #1 in the ranks. I don’t have any incentive to go on if I don’t know what I did wrong or what I did right. At least in Dota2 or CSGO I know that if I lose, my rank goes lower and if I win, my rank goes up.
If every answer is found on that blog post then fuck me I guess.

It’s not a teaching tool, just faceless useless blind judgement. The only really useful bit is if you like to keep track of your stats, but that breaks sometimes too.
edit: I think a win/loss system would work in showing quality, but it would also have knock on effects – players would develop negative habits trying to game the system, leaving queues to protect their rank, etc. You need completely anonymous joining to do something like that.

though a lot of people might start trying harder instead of messing about if they know that if they throw and lose their rating will go down.

Dodging games does happen in every game, especially in higher tiers when you see a pro player on the enemy team and you decide not to even try. I think it’s pretty rare though. However if you abandon during a game, you should get a loss regardless of whether your team wins. I think this can be seen in logs, right?
