i think because diggy dominated the scene (especially on lans) for so long that it was exciting when anyone could challenge them
like epsi vs broder

At first it was 4 kings vs crack clan, then dignitas vs crack clan, then dignitas vs power gaming, then tf2 died. From those teams only ryb still plays, what a mammoth
Hocz, hymzi and paavi play occasionally.
For a bit of historical context, some of my old report cards cover 2009 pretty well:

Yea, good point. Even some of the lesser known names, guys like bmagic, were absolute beasts back in the day and could bully games by themselves.

I would not say that 2/3 years ago is really oldschool
Playing this game for about 2/3 years and i wouldnt say im oldschool
Quoted from wwww
2-3 years aren’t oldschool =) 4-5 is oldschool and 6 years are dinosaurs
I stopped playing properly 2 years ago, started 5 years ago so I’m probably almost old school. :p

I reckon I may be called an old timer.
HI LOLAGE!
Not playing anymore, although I was contemplating getting at least one game in this season to keep my run going of playing a game in every season since season 6.
Maybe I should play against Konr so he can kill me over and over again, some recompense for making hin play with me for a while…
Monkehhhh, NE still going strong? :)
We all got bored and moved on. At least I did, the daily grind of badlands/gran/gullywash eventually gets to you after 6+ years. I still look back with fond memories and keep it touch with people.
Also, Valve never really cared about the competitive scene, probably because the 6v6 TF2 which we all know and love was never *really* meant to be how the game was played.
TF2 officially died the day JB decided to stop writing articles.. FACT.
