lol what? A guide made by a medic who tells you to go top when you’ve got uber advantage and 3 man advantage? kk

Oh wow thank god NsX is here to express his completely respected opinion.

My opinion on this: Learning by doing!

Add a link to the pickups and tell the new medic he should inform his team that he’s new in 6v6. Playing with better players is the only option for a medic to get experienced/good/better. Everything else is nice to read but a waste of time… =)

Just trying to give people a head-start :/

Dropbox is shit for making files public, maybe put it on a google drive doc or something, dropbox goes down it seems if even 2 people look at the file TT.

You can put the guide on steam, like here http://steamcommunity.com/app/440/guides/

Depending on how in depth you wish to go, I think some of these things may be worth a mention:

Using Kritz, how, when and why.
Dot pushes and calling uber percentage.
Walking under jumping soldiers.
Never walk through doors or chokes first, even if they are only one up, the one could be right behind that door.
Pressing tab a lot and calling numbers helps the team loads and is easiest for medics to do.
Worth mentioning the quickswitch button for easy swopping between kritz and uber? (F)
Don’t be afraid to run away if you feel your idiot pocket and his suicide jumps into 4 people aren’t for you.
Multi ubering draining charge faster. When and where to multi.
Snipers and holding or pushing without walking in front of too many sight lines.
Looking behind you a lot, (pocket watches forwards etc).
Watching the skies a lot if you have advantage, dem jumping bastards can be avoided with enough early warning.

Just some ideas.

Edit: Here’s one I made 2 and a half years ago…might be full of bullshit tbh but maybe a few ideas could be gathered from it, feel free to have a look and plagiarise the shit out of it: http://www.nervousenergy.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=3481.msg27869

Quickswitch button?

yeah, those premade loadouts that you can either bind (load_itempreset 0/1/2/3) or you hit the circumflex button (that’s the button for me, think it’s ~ for any non-german keyboard layouts) where you can also edit your premade loadouts without having to hit M/N but it’s a bit buggy for me

All you soldiers are the same…red mists and kill, kill, kill…

Quickswitch button?

Yeah, the weapon quickswitch is soooo useful. It’s bound to F as default I think. If you hold this button down then a list will appear on your screen with each of the weapons you have for the currently equipped slot as a clickable icon. If you hold F and 1, 2 or 3 then the list will be for that weapon slot, so for medic 1 is needles/xbow, 2 is medigun and 3 is saws.

You push last with kritz and win. As your team chases frags with their shiny post round krits, you press and hold F, click your medigun and you’re done, you’ll spawn with medigun and not kritz without having to press escape and click medic then click weapon then click replacement etc. You can also choose one of your pre sets here as well, A, B, C and D are available on the left.

Much quicker and easier. Find the quickswitch thing in your multiplayer options I think it is, maybe advanced, somewhere in the options section anyway.

I think the guide is useful, but if you are extremely new to the game I dont think explaining the science and specifics behind mechanics of the game are the first things they should learn, instead focus on things they can work on to improve their teamplay and integration with a team.

Instead of talking about needle damage and uber% mechanics, it might be more helpful to explain things they can work on. TBH The largest problem with medics of low division over EVERYTHING is always calling. They are not consistent with their calls, something that must be drilled into them in order to become a better medic.

. CALL YOUR UBER % ALL THE TIME.

Every time your team wins a fight for a point, or loses a point, or holding a point, or pushing a point, always let your pocket/team/maincaller instantly know your %, and what you think their medic’s % is. Try and keep tabs on when the medic dies, when he respawns and base their % off of your % for a rough estimate. You HAVE to let your maincaller know this at these important decision making points of the game, and to let your team know where the flow of the game is at.

. CALL WHEN YOU HAVE TO STOP HEALING YOUR POCKET.

If you are forced off of your pocket for any reason, maybe you are low, maybe the demo needs help, maybe even your pocket has rocket jumped too far. ANY reason, let your pocket know, and if you are going somewhere else, WHERE YOU ARE GOING. Seriously, relay every route you go that even slightly deviates. If you are retreating for any reason, this is important for your team to know.

. CALL WHEN YOU ARE LOW/ BEING DAMAGED.

The pocket is not, mid fight, going to be able to read your hp number at all times. Let your team know that you are low so your team knows to play more protective, or to break someone off to get hp with you. Your hp is an important factor of how your scouts should play, and how aggressive you are able to be. Call this.

. CALL YOUR POSITION.

When you are alone, or not building, don’t simply say im not building guys! Call your specific location and where you are heading. You pocket then needs to call his own location and possibly the meet and greet location. This is important. Any time a tm calls medic, call medic yourself, it lets your teammate know where you are without turning around in a fight or you using a voice comm, too many medics dont do this.

While calls are important

. Follow your pocket.

The pocket soldier is the center point in which the team is formed around. While he may not be the maincaller, he still dictates how pushes will play out. If he is being aggressive, unless it is suicidal, you must follow, if he is backing out, you must follow. You cannot leave him simply because you dont agree with where he is going, as a bad plan followed as a team is almost always better than everyone acting individually. Just let him get you killed and lay on him after the game about his decision making. It really sucks as pocket when you feel you cant trust your medic to trust you.

. Attitude.

This applies to every class at all levels tbh, attitude is literally the most important thing in the game imo. Especially if you find yourself maincalling, your attitude will affect your and everyone in the team’s game. Dont tell people what they did wrong during a game, unless it will actively help next round. So do tell your roaming soldier not to bomb left next round because they are sending scouts there, but dont tell him his rockets are bad and you didnt protect me and you made the wrong decision and our scouts are being dominated. This doesnt help. If it is important enough, bring it up after the game. Stay positive ALWAYS. Do not ever complain or offer “constructive input” ingame.

. Losing

If you find yourself losing hard, YOU HAVE TO BREAK YOUR TILT WITH ANY METHOD YOU FIND WORKS. It doesnt matter if you cant win the game, if your game or your team’s game is on tilt it will follow you to your next match. You have two options as a team in order to keep a positive attitude in my opinion. The first option is to keep trying to win, you are the underdogs, let your team know this. Break the game up into smaller goals, even if they are meaningless. For example instead of complaining that you cant get 5 rounds in 12 minutes. Set goals like, if we win mid, we can bm them a little. If we win one round, we pretend we won the game. If you get the medic you get a gold star. It doesnt matter, just keep the team focused on a reachable goal. The second is to write it off and start trolling. Call them skillfakers, go highlander classes, anything to keep the mood up. Roll heavy to mid, tbh that actually works more than you would think, you can come back in games by breaking your tilt in creative ways. Even if you lose that game, as long as you are having fun and have a positive attitude you will get better.

. Always focus on what you can do better.

When you die, think about what you should have done better, try not to linger on what your pocket should have done, or your scouts. What didnt you call, where could you have stood, why werent you in position etc. Ask your team what you should have done better. DONT MAKE EXCUSES. If the scouts dont feel like they are being healed, say you will try and focus them, but let them know if they need to go nearer to you. People might feel like you arent giving them uber in pushes when they need it. People might feel that you are falling back too fast, or staying in too long. You can learn, just ask.

TLDR Dodgy doesnt know shit about medic, go back to making panda shirts.

Message me if you are div5/6 and want help. If I am not PCWing I will be glad to give advice/ go through a map/ watch a match and give advice, I genuinely like helping people (pretending im better than everyone). No match demos though, that shits boring :P. Usually the issue is with calls, teamplay and attitude.
