Shouldn’t we just unban the worthless unlocks just for the lulz? At least it could give some argument advantages (WE DON’T BAN EVERY UNLOCK SO YOU PUBBERS MUST BE HAPPY).

kind of contradicting yourself here surely since you made a comment earlier in this thread.
my previous comment was asking about the mythical PR guy one of the pubbers expected us to have. I think its amusing don’t get me wrong. I just don’t understand why pubbers think we care if they play comp or not. Its like they are standing up for pubbers rights or something even though nobody has ever contested this to my knowledge.
does anyone actually try to get pub players into the comp scene?

Yeah, last night I gave someone some links to the ‘getting into comp tf2’ threads on here after playing against them in a public server.

Yes, why not? My guess is that most people here has done it once at least.
Please stop Crash Site :/ I mean some of the stuff okay but most of the time you just look like an arse posting a billion replies and then typing in caps madding about penguin and huggy and I admit, they’re both retarded but they all gain the sympathy of the pubbers and reinforces their prejudices about how we’re all arsehats and dickheads. It just shines a bad light on the rest of us mate.

No they don’t, especially Huggy is quite universally hated @ spuf :D
Please don’t stop CrashSite!
The effort and initiative you’re showing seem to be the two rarest commodities in this community. The fact that you’ve kept the SPUF thread going to almost 900 replies is impressive, and I’m appalled at the response you’ve received in here.
He’s trying to promote the competitive format we all love to the masses of SPUF. He’s doing so voluntarily and almost entirely on his own. He created this thread to highlight the discussion and presumably to get a bit of help, instead the majority of replies seem to be along the lines of “you’re doing it wrong, just stop”.
How can people not recognise that it’s so much easier to help improve a bad implementation than to stop it and start again from scratch? I definitely don’t agree with everything CrashSite has said on behalf of competitive TF2 in the discussion, but giving up, admitting defeat, is far worse than talking a bit of crap here and there.
Look at ETF2L. There is no way that it can be considered the best implementation of a league, but here we are. We can either close down for an indefinite period of time while we try to fix what we think needs fixed or improve what could be improved (almost everything), or we can keep things going as they are now and fix/improve things a little less quickly at the same time. Considering the current mood on here I’m amazed we’ve made it this far.
My point is, we have to make the best of what we have, there isn’t enough time to stop everything and start from scratch.
You think CrashSite’s doing a bad job of representing the competitive side of TF2? Help him out.
You think ETF2L is doing something wrong? Help us out. How do you think an idiot like me became head admin?
It’s so much easier to make a bad thing good than to make a good thing from scratch.

Just because he’s trying, doesn’t make him exempt from the rest of the community slapping on the wrist when he’s doing something wrong and especially when it’s potentially harmful for the competitive scene.
We’ve even done as you suggested and offered him helpful advice like ‘What impact his actions are giving us thus far and which bits we’re displeased about’ and ‘Examples of threads to follow or intimidate that would improve his attempts’
the NATF2 community is getting pretty galvanized

“He is lifeless who is faultless”.
I’m with Crasp. Close down ETF2L for an indefinite period of time!

Getting coated in liquid zinc?
Both communities are stubborn as hell, and to be honest what the pubbers think doesn’t matter as Valve is on their side in all of this. They choose to buy hats and stuff putting the main empathise of the game on cosmetic items rather than game play and balance. You can name 100s of cosmetic updates that haven’t brought much to the game but struggle to think of game changing updates that shake up balance in particular map balance
(look at granary took a couple of years for parts of it to be balanced both sides and it still isn’t 100% balanced).
Its annoying but that is the reality.
