Don’t really understand the whole discussion, are you saying if ETF2L was the only place where you could play 6v6 in a league, and there were no prizes, you’d stop playing TF2? Seems odd since you’ve got little chance of getting the prizes, unless you’re one of maybe 3 teams, and you’re playing a game you enjoy with people you like (if you don’t you should probably stop now).
No I am saying that having ETF2L as the only league, especially when it doesn’t have the professional look or feel to it, e.g no prize money. It means LANs and Sponsors are less likely to care. So we get less awesome LANs with people who are too drunk to sit down.

I find a certain irony in CrashSite lecturing about people making an effort to help when he wrote 1 article on Cadred then stopped. He spent like a week on the newbie group asking people to make mixes and rarely played in any of them himself (I played in more of them than he did).
Stop being such a hypocrite and pointing the finger at other people and blaming the community for their ‘efforts’. You wrote 1 article on article on Cadred…you played probably less than 10 newbie mixes. You try to run 1 cup without any actual experience running a competition and doing it with such short notice and with such a lack of promotion even I didn’t know what time and day it was until you told me and by then it was too late for me to change my arrangements even if I wanted to change them. I won’t doubt you put time and effort into it like I have for this Highlander season or like I did for LTG.
I didn’t want to mentor in the cup because I enjoyed playing with my teammates – OMG I AM DOING SOMETHING I ENJOY IN MY SPARE TIME OVER SOMETHING THAT WOULDN’T BE AS FUN BECAUSE I ENJOY SPENDING MY SPARE TIME DOING STUFF WHICH IS FUN.
How selfish of me for trying to enjoy my spare time which I have less of because I spend time each day helping run this league.
Sorry this rant is pitiful, TF2 community is full of people, what more do you expect from people? We’re a selfish race who have raped our planet to enjoy benefits like electricity so we can play video games. You think I can take this seriously – some shit league like ESL failed or admins who have a league of over 10,000 players on couldn’t find the time to arrange prize money for a select few teams at the top of the league, same teams and players who don’t arrange their matches on time. Frankly I don’t give a fuck about the 6v6 community, especially the top tier. I only became an admin to help new players into Highlander which is slowly working its way off the ground, if 6v6 withers and dies I wouldn’t give less of a fuck about anything you or anyone else says then as I do now.
As for default date criticisms, most admins are in agreement system was flawed and been noticeably bad this season due to large amounts of double bookings by inexperienced admins. If you knew how ridiculously time consuming the current process is for setting them you wouldn’t be so critical if you ever had to set them, trust me on this.
I have done a lot of the advertising for the Newbie Mix Group. I have setup the New map testing group to try and help get map makers feedback, I started writing for Cadred, then exams happened. I then came back and wrote this article http://www.cadred.org/News/Article/163239/ before cadred left us. In the newbie group I was doing the admin work not the playing. I would have loved to have done more of playing but I didn’t have time.
Also I feel someone should say this:
SO FUCKING MAD <3

You little blight on this community. Come back when you have something intelligent to say.
You’re actually accusing somebody of having less intelligence of you? Have you seen what you’ve written in this thread and in the past? Do you simply not understand the concept of intelligence, is it so alien to you that you’ve created your own definition of it as such? Plus, you can’t accuse people of lacking intelligence when obviously your style of writing leaves you a tad defenseless.
This thread is entirely pointless. No points that you have made are at all logical or rational, they’re simply created by a moron who either wants to create drama or become an etf2l celebrity by doing so. So in a way, this thread has been a success. But it’s not going to accomplish anything, threads like this never do.

What the fuck did I just read.
Also why should we put a ton of effort for pub players to come into the comp when everyone I know made a team themselves and put a bit of work into learning the game? It’s not a difficult game, it’s simple regardless of what people try and say to make the game seem ‘pro’. There’s so many things wrong with your post crashsite but I’m on my iPhone (namedrop) and can’t post a wall of text. Turbotabs pretty much summed it up though.
Edit: also funny YOU talking about how the scene is full of arrogant, bind spamming assholes. Err, you are one of the biggest I’ve had the pleasure of playing against (apart from pikachu)
Yeah I stopped that now, since I realised it made me look like an asshole (still use my I like Trains bind, but that is just cos I still laugh at it.
Also pot and kettle much. You don’t have the cleanest reputation either.
djc is maybe the best English teacher I have en-counted.
He was able to within a couple of minutes make people actively want to write essays.

Personally I think people just need to stop laying the blame on certain community members i.e. prem players for the various failures of TF2. We live as community, if it happens, we die as a community. People need to take a step back and think, “what have I done for the community?” before they blame anyone else.
On a side note, I can’t remember who said this but in the end TF2 is never going to be of the same caliber as say Starcraft with its worldwide tournaments. As soon as people acknowledge this fact and remember why we play the game in this formant, hint hint its because its fun, the better we can be as a community.
Never said it was just Prem. I used them as an example thanks to Greg’s comment on the podcast. Everyone else could help to. And I want them to.
I am not trying to make drama, I want some change and some help doing it. I am going to try as much as I can, but there is a limit. If more people can step forward and help the community then it would be a better place.

You don’t seem to know CrashSite very well. He really doesn’t care about his own status within the community – he does care about the community.
You could argue he is a tad too passionate about it.

Then he’s simply stupid. There is no other rational reasoning behind the drivel that he writes.
He wants stuff to become better. Not sure how that renders him stupid..
It renders him stupid because of his manner of doing so. If he was intelligent, would you not have thought of a way of doing so that would not have involved writing a post on a forum which nobody will take seriously and will only devolve into what it has now? The arguements he creates are so subpar in their creation and are just ridden with flaws. At the very least, if you wanted to try to make an impact with a post like this, make it well written and actually make sense.
So yes, it is stupid.
Can´t we just play and who doesnt wants just doesnt plays. All this argues when you just could go play some mixes with your friends. FFS

Well in my opinion the problem is not that the community is bad, the problem that it is so small that you can not really make something out of it.
Hi, remember me?
Quoted from CrashSite
It keeps TF2 in isolation. It is hard to get sponsors and LANs when the only league that is used is a community one. No LANs and sponsors means less publicity, means less people. There are some other reasons, but these are the ones we can control.
It’s one thing saying ETF2L isn’t the league we wanted it to be, that it could be much better, but it’s retarded to say ETF2L has done more harm than good for comp TF2, please take some time to realize that if this site didn’t exist, people wouldn’t be playing ESL/wireplay more, what would have replaced these forums? IRC? lol.
Quoted from CrashSite
I agree I was being rather liberal about my claims, but it is largely true. A lot of other communities do see TF2 as a bit of a joke.
Again, you were not being liberal, you were being wrong, a lot of communities do see (comp) TF2 as a joke because it is a joke, not because of the community.
Now I’m not saying you’re not right, and this community has a shit attitude, but the message you tried to pass was ‘TF2 is shit for competitive play because we as a community are idiots’, and that’s plain wrong.
Also please take some time to read the most wise thing said in this thread:
Quoted from AcidReniX
Lastly, Professional Competitive TF2 is simply fiction. Our community simply creates this illusion because it’s more fun to pretend there is something significant on the line for a match / tournament / season. It’s the players who need to realise this, as the organisers are doing as good a job as they can possibly do.
