Definitely the best solution. They should have transitioned to F2P w/ ads on YouTube a while ago, really.

I don’t know how I do it … I just type letters in the box and press “Add Reply” and the post appears.

Excellent stuff Skyride, I am sure you ought to contact MGE though about the issue of Copyright. I doubt it is an issue but seen it before they were fairly concerned about it.
For the record the videos on MGE are now free to view.

AFAIK, it was officially authorised, not to mention MGE can’t own any real substantiative copyright on something that is essentially a derivative work of TF2.

Ye, as Chris said I did it because I actually got permission to do it. However there was a bit of a mix up.
Bassically I PM’d CB (owner/creator of MGE) asking about it. He was on snooze so I spoke to Lange (2nd in command pretty much, he handles all their technical stuff and is the guy who actually wrote MGEMod), he said he was cool with it and had actually been hoping someone would ask. He gave me FTP deets for the site and I d/l’d all the videos to my server.
Then about 4hrs later, after I’ve already uploaded them all and title/descriptioned about a 3rd of them, CB gets back to his PC and is like “hey sure but I only want them on youtube if their on the MGE channel”. Fml. I didn’t even know MGE had a youtube channel.
Fair play though, it’s his content that cost about $1500 of his own money to produce, I respect that. Just wrote a script to transfer it all over to the MGE account. I’ll run it once I’ve got all the videos title/description’d.

I already had like 200 subscribers.

They have contacted Youtube before about people using their videos however since it is dead I can’t really see a problem, if anything they should be glad someone is going to make an archive.
Well they certainly have no copyright claim really as a substantiative unauthorised derivative of TF2.

To be fair, I think the claim could be made that they do hold a copyright on it, since the main draw of the content is the information which was created by them, rather than the in-game footage.
i.e. I watch that video because I want to hear what Byte has to say about pushing CP2, not because I want to watch a video of someone playing TF2.
