I feel this is taking the game too seriously. LTG just searched for Div 3 and we got drawn against Paradigm. We lowly div 4 team faced up against the behemoths of Paradigm, Div 2a in ESL.

As we are about to enter the playoffs of the Wireplay league and were playing Granary in the first stage of the playoffs we had previously been going over some tactics, including gunboats roll out. The unfortunate events started with me being disconnected to steam, meaning I was unable to switch to my shotgun. I was in despair, I am awful without it, getting wrecked by scouts. I had already given this up as a lost game.

I am also very out of practice, especially fast jumping, due to my switch to pocket and my lack of time to play at the moment. Despite this I charged off to mid, with gunboats and no shotgun. I was quite quick, but not as fast as I could be. But we won mid. I was pleasantly surprised. We continued on to win the round. Next mid was much the same story. Then the following. I had some nice medic picks, but none I couldn’t have done without Gunboats. At 5-1 we had our other solly switch to pyro, which he still maintains is his main class. This proved to be the last straw, the one that broke the Div 2a’s teams back. They promptly rage quit, before teh game was over.

We were shocked, we get teams to rage quit as we are not the most civil of teams, mainly pikachu and his binds for those who know us, but never because we were winning. We discovered that in fact it was due to the unlocks, that they deiced to quit. The only unlocks we used were the gunboats, which I had no choice in and performed worse because of and the degreaser on the pyro, which was only for one minute. Is this the maturity that we look up to? They left without of much as a gg. In LTG we might be yelling at each other so hard but we always say gg, it is common courtesy. Instead we got abuse from those members who were on our friends list:

This was despite Hildreth not using any unlocks.

We won, 5-1. I played worse for my unlocks. They are complaining that we need to learn to play even though they could not counter a (slow) gunboats solly. One that died most mids, with only one or two kills at most.

As I said, I do not think that it made that big a difference, this was an unpracticed tactic, one that meant I got to mid with ~130 health at most.

So I came here to ask of you, do you think that unlocks had that great an impact, against this Div 2a ESL team? Was it unlocks that won it for us or was it good team play?
