applies to medic too (switch to needles etc).
Its binded fine more like unbinding it.
I hold m1 down all the time, but also have the option on, no particualar reason I guess, but it doesn’t hurt.
I used it but I felt like it makes me slower and I cannot keep alive everybody while passing stickies with ubercharge, so I just switched it off and now I feel like I’ve got more gamecontrol.
so there is a reason to have it disabled ?
Before it was implemented ppl were playin with “autoheal” scripts , after it was implemented they are disabling it
lul
oh,
hud_medichealtargetmarker 1 is your friend

If you have medgun equipped and switch to another class +attack will remain active and mouse1 will presumably still be bound to -attack. Executing “-attack; bind mouse1 +attack” in every class config apart from medic will solve the problem, like so(under //medic): http://pastebin.com/raw.php?i=n0STXUWm

Forgive me I didn’t read the whole thread but here’s my 2 cents…
Valve’s autoheal sucks dick, the target switching is too clunky.
I use the scripted autoheal that is basically an inverted +attack, so you always heal unless you hold mouse1.
Once you get you head around it, its awesome and you don’t get cramp from hold mouse1 all the fucking time :>
The only downside is that brrmp brrmp sound when you have no target to heal, but I don’t even notice it anymore.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but doesn’t the built in auto-heal allow you to disconnect the beam by pressing m1 if you are aiming into thin air or at a target you’re currently healing? I’ve been using a script like this for years so can’t be sure, and I don’t have my comp around to check it. If so, there is a huge advantage to be had from the script.
With such an auto-heal it would be possible to think that you swapped but didn’t and unintentionally disconnect or swap successfully, think that you missed only to unintentionally disconnect while trying to correct percieved mistake etc. With the scripts behaviour it’s simple, on/off – uniform.
There was also a graphics bug present with the auto-heal, but not the script, that made it look like you were healing, but really weren’t. Don’t know if it’s still around.

if you shift+tab while healing, it gets fucked up, bind yourself exec medic.cfg.

so basically you need to +mouse1 and -mouse1 to switch targets? I tried this and it wastes more time. It actually feels like input lag if you know what am I saying. Or did I get something wrong?
Long time ago I had the perfect auto-heal script that was working like normal +mouse1 switch, the idea of which I got after watching dignitas agron’s pov demo. but then Valve removed wait command from game and -mouse1 switch script for medic is only one left available. But it’s slow. So when I play medic I use in game option for auto-heal.
i use it, but i always hold mouse1 when i heal. Good stuff, bro.

i use it and it very good!
but i still hold m1 all the time :D
LOL same here! I only use the added luxury of being able to let go of M1 when my hand really starts to cramp or something.

Yes, true. I always switch to syringe gun or ubersaw when this happens. Hard to think of many scenarios where you ABSOLUTELY have to stop healing but also ABSOLUTELY have to keep out your medigun. Like I said in my previous post: “I don’t really feel the need either [to try scripted autohealing], as the standard autoheal doesn’t give me any problems.”

I still think this is a placebo effect, and hearing that sound when you have no target actually sucks (it will mask important low level sounds in the game). But, because some people in here make script autohealing seem like the best thing since sliced bread, I’m gonna try it today, after months of being used to built-in autohealing.

After all this discussion I went and tried the autoheal again……IT’S AWFUL!
Less control, less accuracy…just less.
Not for me, no way, no thanks, no chance, no, no, no, no, no, no, no!
I’m with Monkeh on this one.
I use autoheal, but usually hold mouse 1 most of the time .. habit.
