The only gap here is a gap of imagination, average Joe Plumber doesn’t mind any server-side mod which he doesn’t have to install.
I agree. This over exaggerated barrier isn’t going to bother many people at all. If a public players joins a pickup and finds his favourite weapon (TDH) banned, he’ll be pissed off. If he joins a pickup, downloads a small mod when he connects to the server (he didn’t even notice) and finds he’s getting less mini crits, he won’t think fuck all.
Remember, TFTrue wouldn’t implement any radical changes. Banning a weapon outright is a radical change between competitive + public.

And as said already, if TFTrue starts being used again by comp. players there’s every chance Valve will update TF2 with the same changes.

This. Just edit the valve stuff to stop all the whining and rage, and then valve can follow on if it works, if not, we only have to put up with a serverside mod, no biggie

Hitsounds are already in TFTrue IIRC.
I’m aware that it’s possible, but people did not want it and told him to go die or w/e, so I requested it again since the circumstances have changed and suddenly hitsounds are the lesser evil. Unnecessary human interaction ftl.
Out of interest will this keep any changes valve didn’t make from TFTrue, or did everything get implemented?
TDH Minicrits removal and Equalizer fixed damage are working 100%
Removing the FaN knockback gives some other games issues and I’m trying to find a way to fix that.
Also, do you guys know a better sound for the hit beeps, which can be found in the TF2/OB Engine GCFs?

How does the SM hitsound plugin do them? The hit beep on pingtimeout tf2dm is quite nice.
I’m with Darn on this one. Lets not make the gap between pubs and comp even bigger. And if you don’t want to deal with the fan or any other unlock: just ban ‘m.
But that’s what alienates pubbies (look at steam forum and everyone whining about the sandman in comp). Bringing the game’s problems to valve’s attention is a much better solution.

I think the hitsounds are actually produced on the fly, not pre-created .wav audio files. If you ask Stuntman Mike, I’m sure he’ll happily send you the source for the TF2DM mod (I have it, but i’d rather not give it out without permission).
tbh allow sandman now, its useless really and no one will use it
