What the fuck is wrong with Steam?

Yesterday, I started experiencing some weird stuttering but I thought that it was just temporarily. So tonight while I was playing, I had these massively annoying stutters nearly every 30 seconds. I again thought that they were temporarily but I was wrong.
The first thing that came to my mind was that Black Ops had just came out and the Steam servers were being overloaded or whatever. So I changed my Steam mode to offline and these irritating stutters magically disappeared. My problem here is that if this is going to be like that for a while or am I going to be forced to play with Steam offline all the time.
Is anyone else having this problem?

Black Ops seems to be causing similar issues for a LOT of people.

Used to get that in cod4 ever since upgrading to i5/5770, always blamed punkbuster but didnt really care enough to look into it (shit game and all).

Do you get sound loops and disconnects from everything too?
Sound loops? I don’t think so.
But I do get this crash-like stutter which basically freezes my game for more than 10 seconds. It’s really annoying when you are pushing with uber and this shit happens to you. You just stand still and see images of you taking damage…
yeah i have this too…
the game suddenly freezes for about 20-35 seconds with sound loop that is playing all that time..
i can’t alt tab or anything, just wait for it to pass or restart the computer.
but if i wait for it to pass then when the game is back, the graphics are all fucked up including the fonts textures and everything..

thats not what the guy has described, u simply have overheating gpu
