assuming thread hijack.
Asrock 4CoreDual-SATA2 (chipset VIA PT880 that is), C2D 2.8GHz, Sparkle GF7600GS, Samsung Syncmaster 2232BW (60Hz that is). Running TF2 at native res (1680×1050) causes smooth lag – input processing is delayed, fights with lots of particle processing involved lower fps as well. It’s not just an fps drop though, the game itself just slows down for a moment, like it insisted to render everything instead of skipping it like a man. Should I just lower the fps cap until it disappears or just stay at lower res?
get a gpu that can do fillrate fast enough at native res
I running tf2 @ High settings ( no Filters)
on 32 player server a fps drop to 50 ;)
normal server 160 fps with drops to 80 :S
Config:
Intel i7 860
6GB DDR3
GTS 320 :( Fail card.
Samsung T220HD @ 1680×1050 + HP w1907v @ 1440 x 900 ;)

But you can’t set it to 67 because of sv_maxcmdrate 66 which will set it to 66 or is the client still using the 67 value oO im a bit confused.
Plz help me :P
The client is still set to 67. It doesn’t work the way you think it does.

Ty for your clarification I’m going to read an article about netsettings to get an idea how it works :P
I play with 15-30fps, don’t see why u lot cry “omg i got 60fps, i cannot airshot no more omgzz” wtf? l2p?

for some reason i cried less when i had 40-60fps on mids, now when i have >120, every time it drops under 100 it is much more distracting
and 60-70 i consider unplayable now

the more you have fps in TF2, the less you will have negative acceleration in it.
Figure it out. Gl

That’s not actually true, you know…
Unless you’re trolling. Which is entirely possible.

that’s reall true, my british friend. Source engine loves high fps, only then you won’t have shit, like negative acceleration.
Stable 120 fps is ok for me, but when it’s lower than 80 my mouse starts to do weird things, it is skiping pixels :/. I used to use 10cm per 180 greedes and when i have had massive fps drops to lower than 80 i couldn’t turn around for 180 greedes normally, because it took me 20cm instead of 10.
The things are even worser in Left 4 Dead 2, which runs the same source engine as TF2, there is a option named “Wait for Vertycal sync” which limits your fps to 60. With it enabled it becomes impossible to aim. Alot of negative acceleration occurs during the game, and when you move your cursor, there’s a feeling like it swimms, or either moves with a delay. Hard to explain. However, disabling this option helped me alot, and now, when i have 80-120 fps ingame, no negative acceleration anymore.
In tf2 that’s quite better aswell with chris maxframes cfg. Now my fps never drops down.

What I dislike most about these forums is that a lot of people, even if they aren’t exactly stupid, just spew dribble all over the place about computers. It’s like, Chris has spent an unhealthy amount of time researching about this stuff, testing on multiple computers, with LAN and internet based servers, as well as comparing these results against a base of knowledge about computers and networks in general that you just wouldn’t even begin to understand.
Then you just contradict him with a wall of text that bassically equates to “OMG LOL LOW FPS GETS U NEG MOUSE ACCELL AND MAKES YOUR GAME BAD Y U SO DUMB”. Just… why? You really don’t have the slightest clue what you’re on about, get a clue and stop trying to jump in with your stupid opinions, and you might actually learn something new.
I’m not saying Chris is the infalliable fountain and source of all knowledge regarding TF2, but at least hes basing what hes saying on solid evidence.
