is there a way to display coloured heads and items in tf2 while running with dx8?
no
As far as I know, DirectX 8 is not supported by Valve anymore, so I don’t think you can make them visible.

It is not possible.
COLORS. HOW DO WE ADD THEM TO STUFF IN DX8. SO FAR, ONLY EVERYTHING IS COLORED!
