Disabling the mac update menu tips

So i keep getting the mac update tips (this is crafting, this is your backpack etc..) everytime i run tf2, and i’m pretty sure this is due to the fact i have a read only config and that there is a simple command to turn them off – something like cl_disable_tips 1
Any ideas?
