Well I accidentally closed my PLDX recording tool while tf2 from it was open. I know this causes many problems, there is a topic it was mentioned and a fix but I can’t find it. I tried setting the launch options to -autoconfig, I went in-game and used hud_reloadscheme, cl_drawhud 1, exec autoexec. I verified the game files and it said at the end all files are verified nothing wrong = I want a fix that doesn’t mean I have to redownload tf2, a friend advised me to delete everything in the tf folder,(obviously not demos and shit like that). What should I do?
I went through my /tf folders and deleted anything related to pldx for instance a config named pldx in my cfg, in the resource folder a game_menu thing that gives the pldx game menu with the +recording fps etc but it still isn’t right buttt I have a whole half of my normal tf2 menu =DDDD
Have you ever tried validating game files, possibly defraging?
Steam > Library > Right Click TF2 > Validate Game Files
In your pldx folder, there will be a folder caleld backup or somethign with all your cfgs and stuff in it. -autoconfig won’t work because that doesn’t bring back your scripts and stuff, it just resets tf2 to it’s default settings and then executes the cfgs as normal (in this case, the pldx ones).
You can also just delete your resource/material/cfg folder and reopen tf2 if you didn’t have any scripts you wanted back. Tf2 would then recreate them.
But yeah, best thing is to just grab the files that have been moved to your pldx folder.
reinstall should fix it
Thanks for all the help but just before I died for the night I managed to fix it. I went into the pldx folder and into moviefiles then opened up my /tf folder and deleted anything that matched and copied my hud back in just in case. And @sokair validating and verifying are the same thing. cheers! =]
