What’s this actually for, btw?
DA FUUUUCK
you should easily be getting >100fps constant at that res even on high quality with those settings.
Quoted from Inuy
FPS Config Used (if any): Quantum high fps (would like to change.)
so i heard this guy called chris made some configs, like, you should totally check them out man
i will run a bench with my MACsframes (see what i did there) on an imac tomorrow

Average fps is pretty useless, minimum fps is much more interesting. Any way to test for this (fraps can prob do it)?

What? Minimum FPS is useless, average FPS is much more interesting…
Minimum FPS tells people just about nothing because any extremity is likely to be an anomalous outlier… same for maximum :x

If you have 100fps average but drop to 30 and get 110 most of the time is much more shit to play than having 80fps average and just dropping to 60. I use fps configs to see things more easily and to prevent my framerate from dropping below 60. That is something else than just raising average fps. I agree maximum fps is a useless stat, but minimum fps is very important for a smooth experience.

Then don’t look at the minimum — the minimum doesn’t show that.
A much more accurate way would be to record the standard deviation.

Dropping down to X fps consistently doesn’t mean there is an anomaly but rather a case in which your fps actually suffers.

Granary too bad for this test imo. Badlands or Freight have less fps on mid.

Such things are much more accurately measured by stdev than minimum figures.
Guys i just realized the reason for all the low fps’s. You guys must be alt tabbing out while the demo is running. It drops your fps down to the low 20’s

No, because standard deviation says nothing about how low it drops. Or, well, lets put it this way: it says nothing about the lowest drop (you could guess the probability of a very low fps figure showing up, but that’s pretty much useless). And that’s what matters. 150fps with a standard deviation of 10fps can still drop to 30fps and fuck up that meatshot that you just had to hit to save the round. Min fps would have shown your config doesn’t give you a solid 60+ fps.
