Story time

I’m really bored of typing the full rcons for map changing and executing match configs. I just wanna play most of the time. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had to close down TF2 and go to my teams website just because I can’t remember the bloody rcon password! It drives me and my team crazy.

So a few days ago, I made this config file that was just a load of binds that changes map or puts other simple rcons in. It was sweet! 2 buttons to change map! Just tap the rcon key then the correct map key (I printed a list of what each key does for reference) and the map changed instantly with no faffing about or forgetting the rcon password! I was happy and my friends were too.

A few games and mixes later, I had to go answer the door halfway through a game and so I muted myself in mumble (I use automatic activity with a bind for muting myself and nobody wants to hear me opening/closing doors do they ZeyOrk?). My mute key is right above some of the map binds so what did I do? I changed map mid round! There’s nothing you can say now that wasn’t shouted at me then! I lol’d though, as breaking the server seems to be my forte.

Anyway, I quickly decided I needed to fix this somehow. So I gave myself a button to turn it on and off as I desired. Adding another button needed to change a map but making life safer and less embarrassing all around.

“You’re a cock, why should I care about this crap?” I hear you cry!

I’ve made a generic version that anyone can use! Even included a fairly dull printout so you can remember what each bind does (WoT tbh). Most of you won’t want this, but team leaders/admins might!

“Anything I need to know before I download this masterpiece?”

Yes. It uses F1/F2 and the numpad. So if you have some other binds on that side of the keyboard, read the printout to make sure installing this won’t delete any existing binds of yours! I’ve warned you here. I take no responsibility for your idiocy.

“GIMME GIMME GIMME”

Calm down! Download it HERE!

“So what now?”

I’ve included a readme file telling you how to install it and a PDF for you to print and tell you how to use it. I’ll be updating it with your suggestions if you have any.

Shoutout

Created and concieved by myself but DeadlyAvenger from WDG helped me.

“Shuttup allready with this wall of text!”

Happy adminings – Suggestions PLEASE!

Looks nice.

If you’re going to release an updated version you should add a buttons to the main menu which would set rcon_address (and rcon_password) if you own multiple servers.

You should also use aliases instead of binds, and add a key setup in Options > Keyboard for further user friendliness.

great job man

sc0pe

nice work.

but tbh, cant find any usage of this..

alias “bad” “rcon changelevel cp_badlands”
alias “fre” “rcon changelevel cp_freight”
alias “obs” “rcon changelevel cp_obscure_rc4”
alias “tur” “rcon changelevel ctf_turbine”
alias “gp” “rcon changelevel cp_gravelpit”
alias “gran” “rcon changelevel cp_granary”
alias “fast” “rcon changelevel cp_fastlane”

this is enough for me actually..

but nice work anyway ;]

not to be a cock, but a custom UI does the same thing and is about as easy to create :P
edit: and may be easier to use as you just click on the thing that you want in the main menu.

I already have a custom UI and didn’t wanna add more as it barely fits on my screen as it is (scrolling sucks)

You can change the size of the font on the menu, thats what I have done so it all fits on. Good idea non the less, will check it out at one point.

Mihalch and Hawkeye will release a new version of matchmod including configs getting directly from the league, communicating with the league backend and so many others. :)
