No, because if you go above a 1000fps the models and movement go crazy. Really only happens in MGE arena’s, but still really annoying.[/quote]
just put fps_max 999, same shit…
Why would anyone need more than 120 fps with an 120 Hz monitor (+ a bit more if VSync isn’t enabled)? I doubt any person would be able to notice the difference. Even though eyes work differently than “refresh the perceived image x times per second” (the flicker fusion threshold from cones is even 60 Hz max, but admittedly that is not the whole story), one can’t see a difference anyway due to technical limitations.
There is no reason why much more than 120 fps on a 120 Hz monitor would make a difference.

Because Sourc Engine is … well … Source Engine.
Brb porting TF2 to quake engine
i swear i can see the difference between fps_max 61/121 or 300/none on TF2 and on my 60hz monitor
I will give you the benefit of the doubt that there are technical reasons (i.e. not biological) for having more fps than your refresh rate exceeding a value of 120. But what are those?
I don’t know but im sure i can see smoother with a fpsmax of 300/none

bcs source engine goes to shit when reaching fps_max limit, especially if its not hz * x… say 124fps cap is much much worse than 121 on 60z, i think anyone would notice that
Fair enough. But what exactly does it do? I am more interested in it than “Everyone can feel it!”.
Can someone tell me why i can feel the difference between 120 fps and 60 fps, but yet films at the cinema are only 24 fps. If I cap my tf2 to 25 it feels laggy as shit.

nope, 48 fps cuz of interlacing.
movies and games … HUGE difference. movies use celluloid and motion-blur, games dont. thats why games “feel laggy”

Also is it worth it getting a 144hz monitor? Is it a big difference from 60hz
60hz – 16.7ms
120hz – 8.3ms
144hz – 6.9ms
motionblur(using) in ms
so yea. i recommend you a 120hz or (even better) a 144hz screen
edit: just add me, easier to give u answers :p
Last edited by schocky,
