The deal is: mice I hook onto my PC will keep reconnecting at random intervals (2-30 seconds apart). This is happening for a good 4 months without any appearant reason that I can think of.

So, following is what I’ve tried:

different mice (Microsoft intellimouse explorer 3.0, logitech wireless mouse, steelseries sensai)
different USB-ports (front and back)
Lowering the Polling Rate (1000, 500 and 250)
Checked Eventviewer (Nothing relevant is added during the times the mouse loses power / turns back on)
Mouse specific drivers installed and removed.
Without and with ASUS chipset drivers.
Reinstalled windows 7 pro
CMOS clear
BIOS update
Tried the mice on other systems (no problems whatsoever.)
Removed all other devices that were connected via USB (headset, phone charger, keyboard)
Installed the last version of Ubuntu (problem happened there aswell)

My setup:

Samsung Spinpoint F1 HD103UJ, 1TB
Asus VW223B
Antec Performance One P280 Asus P5E Deluxe
Philips 32PFL5405H OCZ Reaper HPC DDR2 PC2-6400 4GB Edition
Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550
Cooler Master Real Power M620 OCZ Vertex 2E SATA II 2.5″ SSD 60GB
Asus EAH5450 SILENT/DI/1GD3(LP)
MSI R6870 HAWK
This WAS my setup. After being fed up with it, I’ve made a few adjustments today. I’ve replaced the CPU, motherboard and memory for an 1155 set:
Intel Core i5 3450 Boxed
MSI Z77A-G45
Corsair Vengeance CML8GX3M2A1600C9

After that I’ve installed windows 8. (and then updated chipset, bios and videocard drivers)
Plus I’ve removed the Asus EAH5450 to see if my 2nd and 3rd screen were to blame.
But sadly, the problem still persists, with both mice I didn’t have to wait long untill I heard the sound that windows detected new hardware, and had to wait untill I could move my mouse again for a few seconds.

The last thing I’ve tried today was switching the input of the mouse to ps2 via a connector, which didn’t solve the problem.

If the mice didn’t work on other systems I would agree.
