I’ve said this before, picking two teams of 6 is trivial, you can just use kapm and then select in whatever order seems best. I do scouts first, demos then soldiers, but for something like tf2pickup where prem soldiers can outweigh scouts you could ignore classes entirely. For its simplicity it works really well, and has the big advantage of giving good ratings after two or three games rather than twenty or thirty (bearing in mind a popular web pickup will have a lot of casual users).

Before the pickup starts you have to ready up, so there is no chance you accidentally play in a pug by forgetting to remove.
Closing the page will remove you from the pug after 5 seconds, unless you reload the page in time.
Once ready, you have to play or get a sub for yourself(on the match page).
Even closing the page won’t remove you then.
If you play as medic you can click on other players names to friend them which will put them on the same team with you.(Obviously won’t work on the other medic or already friended players).
You can still friend players during the readUp phase.
If you can think of any other features you would like to see please post them and let me know!
Looks amazing shrike, nice job.
When you want this released to the general public may I suggest a catchier URL? Something like tf2lobby or tf2pickup as generally easy to remember URLs bring in the most people. I know they are more expensive but the .tf URLs are pretty neat. pickup.tf ??

There is no need to say stupid things.
A “merge” would mean replacing the current TF2Pickup.net site with Shrike’s.
At the end of the day Shrike’s website is made the right way using the right stuff, while TF2Pickup.net was made by sticking different parts together in a hacky way, using the wrong stuff.
Shrike’s site, once complete, won’t have bugs and has a bigger potential because it can (and will) have many features that the current TF2Pickup.net can’t.
At the end of the day there is no competition here, the goal is to have an easy way for players to play pug’s.
You can see this as the full rewrite to TF2Pickup’s site that was always needed.
Props to Shrike for taking the time to do it.
Let them compete until the one with less fuckups is naturally favoured. Terrible idea to merge them at this stage.

compete for what?! you would just split players which is allways horrible thing (old pickup1, invite pickup, etc)… all the good pug places seem to die while shitty ones stay..the community is too small to have two sites
also someone already said there is another pickup coming?! so you shall have ur competition no matter what

There is no point in letting them “compete”, that would only stall moving to/using Shrike’s site because even though it will be better, people will be used to using the TF2Pickup.net domain and its UI.
The only thing that might not be “favorable” is the UI, but that is a matter of taste and will never be liked by everybody. You can get used to it or it can be easily re-done.
