Before, the point of pixel was to “fill that gap”. That pickup shaped gap, but with tf2pickup.net there then that gap isn’t there. It seems effectively a bit of a redundant task.
Competition for systems is great, but given how in the past it eventually seems to come back to: this is too much work, you don’t appreciate this, some other issue…
Great if it works but it seems like there’s a lot more to lose (fragmentation between people, mainly). It’s not like tf2pickup.net is lacking activity.
People collaborating seems far better than selfish solo projects, Trath I think sort of joined with Crafz early on, iirc? However it happened anyway, it seems to have produced good results and with more than one person it has moved much quicker.
I’m not going to lie. The quality of tf2pickup as it is now is a decent distance below what pixel used to offer. Tf2pickup is a great deal more accessible, but its missing out on a few key features and if there was irc based competition there would be a split in interest. Tf2pickup will always be more active, but the sub system isn’t there yet and it’s fairly common to wait 15-20 mins for a game to start up.
Don’t tar and feather Skyride quite yet. Wait until he has something to show and decide for yourself what you like better.
Pixelpickup will presumably not ban people who hardly even play for 24 years for seemingly no reason.

Implementing a more decent report system and would not take 6 weeks, but fine. If Skyride wants to hold on to that dead foetus I won’t try to stop him any further. I’m just saying that it’s a waste of time in my opinion.

Crafz did you really ban me from your pickup like some 12 year old instead of actually discussing it on the forum? I said something like “came off as a bit of a retard” and it was probably a bit harsh but banning me like that proves my point more than anything. And I nowhere said that I had no interest playing in it, I just said that since you are the way you are it probably won’t last. Go ahead and prove me wrong instead of handling it like you’re a kid.

There was no good way of answering your claim of me being retarded because I said that I won’t post in that thread any more. I really dislike saying stuff and not following with actions or in this case non actions.
After I put so much work to make something that is actually pretty useful to so many people. I don’t think I deserve do be called a retard for it.

Maybe maybe not, but permabanning someone over 1 single remark is ridiculous.
And now back ontopic, this is about pixelpickup. Glad to see it coming back. :)
I have never played on the new mix website.
But I think one of the reasons why tf2lobby has run without any problems for so long is that there are no admins, ok sometimes it feels like you need an admin but when tf2lobby first came out and there were some active admins who banned people there was always uproar in a thread like this.
But compared to the controversy caused by an active admin member defending his pride and inadvertently splitting the community by banning people who hurt his feeling no admins at all seems just as good an option.
