I discovered something unexpected – walking around with an eager newb going “this is called “choke”, that’s ‘house’ blah blah” is actually a lot of fun.

Who doesn’t enjoy rubbing one’s superiority into the feeble noses of those below you? In all seriousness though it is a nice feeling when someone tells you they’ve learned more about the game in a single mix than in the last couple of months of pub play.

My favourite comment, which really slams home the gaping chasm between pub and comp, was, “I never even realised about pushing when they have lots down down being the right thing to do”

Obvious to you and me, but exactly the kind of chasm that is so easy to bridge. Some of these guys have wicked aim, with thousands of hours in Quake or CS, they just need some guidance with the mechanics of TF2 is all.

Anyway, more of these to come I think, was a great larrrfff!
