Sergeant Brown

Hello-hello, I go by the name of "Sergeant Brown" and technically-speaking, I'm just another "novice" European player who's looking to take his first step into the higher-skilled end of Team Fortress 2 that is its Leagues.

Though I was hoping to enter ETF2L proper by the end of this current season, it looks like I've been given a golden opportunity to start my path in the form of the Fresh Meat Challenge, and as such here I stand, like a couple more before me, in search of the right Team to lead me through this first step of mine, if not help me unlock more skill inside as this "Archimedes Cup 2017" unfolds.

I am a 21-year old male college student who currently has more free time than what one would expect, and though I currently live in France (hence the French flag) I am hardly a Frenchman. Furthermore, though I am adept at speaking Portuguese, English and French on a fluent level, I am far more used to doing things In-Game (like thinking and talking) in English.

Despite how… "pompous" I might seem from this post's style alone, I am actually quite the opposite (for the most part at least). I like to believe I am a humble, honest and calm human being with a side of the casual memer, who uses most of his free time at home with the things he knows he enjoys: Steam games, Internet memes, Youtube videos, jokes of almost any kind, my little kitty — and did I mention "Internet memes"? Right; did you know that memes are actually the DNA of the soul? Mister Monsoon taught me that ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°). Of course, going Out-Of-Character is bound to happen to me at some point or another; fortunately, my O.O.C. moments usually tend to range between being "mildly annoyed" and "quite irritated", so that's pretty cool.

I've been playing TF2 on an almost constant basis since Late March 2010, and as I kept enjoying and getting better at the game, I kept expecting everyone else around me to get better as well… Except that last part wasn't working out as well, and over time, it reached the point where I was practically carrying teams. Problem is, I never was the kind of player that enjoys carrying people like a team leader; I was more the kind that enjoys doing its thing as well as it can and hopes it benefits the team, so when I noticed I kept feeling powerless when playing with pubs, it was clear that the competitive side of the game — something I once considered to be a personal dead end — might just be the most natural next step for me.

As such, I've started studying this side of TF2 since the latter half of last year, eventually realizing — mostly through loads of MGE and Trial&Error — that I overall fitted better as a Roaming Soldier with potential Offclassing in Engineer and Spy. Now, I know Roamer Offclassing is quite the controversial subject, but since I'm fine playing Roamer all-game, you should probably just consider my Engineer & Spy Offclassing as "Options". That said, I believe I still have much to learn overall, and I'm not expecting to reach an end to it anytime soon (especially since rocket-jumps are almost impossible to get consistently good at).

All things considered, I'm basically Looking For a Team who enjoys playing competitive TF2 and is willing to keep getting better on both the individual and the group level, all the while not being too dead serious about being better than everyone else or getting fame and fortune. This same Team would also have to mainly use Discord though, because I don't use Mumble and I'm not planning to touch that jumbled mess of a "voice chat program" anytime soon.

…So, yeah, what else? Let's see… Ah, right; I am free most of the week somewhere between 16h00 and 22h00 CET (GMT+1) every day, and I'd also like to be told quite early in advance when certain events are going to happen, so I can be sure there'll be no last-minute shenanigans preventing me from being available at said events.
