Staff changes

Our admin search was successful. Thanks to over 30 people for showing their will to help and sorry we only were able to take in a small number of new admins. A big warm welcome to our new additions, hope you will have a good time!

On the other side, we had to say goodbye to some old admins.  Gryzor, m0re, Freaka and DrG left the staff. Thanks a lot for your help on this project and we wish you the best for the future.

Ban hammer

We are reorganizing our Anti-Cheat team, which is now back on track again. Catching up the first cheaters wasn’t hard. We decided to send a clear signal and raised the punishment to a permanent ban. See below for an overview.

  • [Smart Move]: banned for Season 6 & 7 due to supporting a cheater
  • [Infedel] a.k.a. [Trullo]: permanent ban for creating new account to prevent a ban
  • [Giordy]: permanent ban for using an aimbot
  • [Chinaski]: permanent ban for using an aimbot
  • [oZZy]: permanent ban for using a wallhack

I think permanent ban i not a good solution. 1 Year ban was a good lenght. good lenght to think about how stupid that was. Now cheaters won’t wait 1 year they will create a new account, you can’t forbid someone to play IMO. Plus the fact that everyone deserve a second chance, i really don’t think it’s a good decision :)
A year ban + Upload POV Record after every matc +anti cheat (Like XRAy, aequitas, etc…).

  23. Anathema said:

uploading POV = bullshit amounts of data
    anti cheat programs are shit

  24. AnAkIn said:

Keyro, cheaters don’t even wait 1 year, almost all of them create a new account right after the ban, so it won’t really change anything.

    Perm ban = fail.

If I was cheating, and got caught, and received a permanent ban, and I still wanted to play, i’d get a new steam account. If it was a 1 year ban, i’d probably hang around and play PCWs asuming a team would take me. When the ban expired I’d be playing leagues again.

Obviously we don’t want cheaters in the league, but someone who is caught cheating is more likely to get a new steam ID and carry on cheating if they get a perm ban.

Not to mention since ETF2L doesn’t give out evidence of their bans, a player could be incorrectly banned based on nothing but the opinions of a couple of anti-cheat admins. An incorrect ban of a year while inconvinient, wouldn’t be the end of the world. A perm ban would mean an innocent player has to change alias, lose e-friends etc…

Nationscup playoff table looks stacked ;pp

haven’t admins known about smart move for ages? my clan came 4th in that div and i remember being told at the time smart move were dodgy, and when i asked etf2l admin they said they had looked into it and decided not to punish them. not that it really matters now, just kinda anoying.

lol, a year is a long time in gaming. Its essentially a life time ban in tf2 anyway so who cares.
If you get banned for a year, and then your wait a year of your life just to play tf2 again in an internet league then your probably a sad billy no mates/cock/life/(Insert life proving noun here).

Ban the twats for life, the only people who are saying to ban them for less time are just the people who’ve had team mates banned in the past and cant accept their team mates cheated (LOL BAN WITHUT PROOFS?)

The system works fine, who cares if they dont release evidence to the public? Its none of your buisness, they do release evidence to other leagues though so if you find yourself banned in other leagues from other admins its pretty obvious.

  43. che: fa» - [SpA] said:

it was decide before I came,
I will try to discuss this once more
Because imho players like trullo who didnt learn their lesson,
should get a lifetime ban, I guess you everybody agrees
    but players who did it the first time (are hopefully willing to change), shouldnt get it;
and I hope it will be change from permanent to 1/2 yr(s)

  44. F2 :]: Danmark said:

In my eyes, a permanent ban is not so much a punishment as it is a way of preventing people from cheating in the first place. By saying “if you cheat you get a permanent ban” you send out a clear message saying that cheating is completely unacceptable under any circumstance. That should keep most people from cheating, and the few that choose to ignore the rule… well, it’s really their own fault that they get banned.

Will people try to circumvent their ban by creating a new steam account? Yes, some of them will. But they will be caught again unless they get a new ip + voice changer + they lose all their e-friends, etc. It’s very difficult and tough not to be caught again.

Would people not create a new steam account if their ban only was 1 year? No, 1 year is a very long time, especially in tf2. In the pickups I have several times seen people trying to avoid their ban (by creating a new Q-auth) even if their ban was only a few days.

So to make my points short:
    1. Permanent ban is way to prevent people from cheating. If they decide to ignore the rule, they are pretty stupid.
    2. People will try to circumvent the ban but in most cases they will not be successful.
    3. Even if the ban time is only 1 year, it is still a very long time and people will still try to circumvent the ban (which has already been seen several times on etf2l).

Making it 6 months like cheetah suggested would be even worse. I have seen people in here get several months ban just for writing something in the forum/news comment… Surely a cheater should get a much longer ban.

And noone cares about wrong bans

  46. che: fa» - [SpA] said:

    f2: 6 months? I talked about 1/2 yr(s)
but I dont know one place/ thing in life where you get a lifetime ban (whatever) after you made one mistake (even cheating is a small mistake)

  47. che: fa» - [SpA] said:

    oh I see now 1/2 year :/
    I meant 1 or 2 year(s)

  48. F2 :]: Danmark said:

Okay, just ignore the last line in my post then. :)

  49. Koeitje: AUTOBOTS said:

Just perm ban. 1 year is a long time in gaming, esp in tf2. People will just create a new account anyways.

i agree with banning trullo/infedel but not the team smart move. they very probably knew they were doing the wrong team but i want everybody know they reached div 3 clean of cheats, as trullo was banned very long time ago and considering that he never cheated again with the new account. now they will have to restart everything

I’m sad that a clan does willingly (try to) bypass a ban of a player.
