Season 14 Schedule, Maps and Unlocks

Season 14 is almost upon us, and as a late Christmas present we’ve decided to announce some details early: the Season Schedule, the Map Pool, and more importantly, the Unlocks. We are also happy to announce that Twitch will support Season 14 as the main sponsor!
Season Schedule
Signups: January 2 – 9
Seeding: January 9 – 11
Publishing of Provisional Divisions: January 12
Schedule Week: January 13 – 19
Main Season: January 20 – March 2 (7 weeks)
Catch-up Week: March 10 – 16
Playoffs: March 17 – April 7
You can still sign up your team after January 9. Teams signing up later than January 9 will be placed on the waiting list and have a very high chance of replacing dead or dropping teams during the first three play weeks.
Map Pool
Turbine has proven to be the least popular map of Season 13′s map pool, and thus it has been removed. In Season 14, we will put an emphasis on mastering a smaller pool of maps, all of which are well-known and popular throughout all levels of play.

- Week 7: cp_granary/cp_badlands
The Unlocks
Based on the feedback from the 6th Cup, we have decided to break the status quo and introduce the Cup’s unlocks into our regular 6v6 League. We believe that these carefully chosen unlocks will add more variety and tactical depth to 6v6 across all skill levels.
The complete list of unlocks allowed in Season 14 is as follows:
- The Kritzkrieg
- The Übersaw
- Crusader’s Crossbow
- The Blutsauger
- The Overdose
- The Gunboats
- The Boston Basher
- The Pain Train
- The Escape Plan
The Season 14 whitelist will be identical to the 6th Cup whitelist.

The mappool is amazing, but 5 or more badlands had been coolio! Don’t care about the unlocks, not gonna make a difference in the long run.

Am I the only one who thinks that the only thing this particular set of unlocks does for TF2, is encourage one of the worst aspects of the game…. suiciding soldiers for medic kills.
Sure, allowing some unlocks is a start, and I appreciate that this will cause some sort of diversity in the sense that now, two 280 HP soldiers can jump for a medic, leaving a scout behind to build uber and clean up the mess after (bleh), but still… It looks like all we’ve done is copy half of the American unlock rules, without thinking about the implications of not allowing the remaining ones with can provide hard counters to repetitive aggressive soldier bombing.
Still, I won’t jump the gun! Let’s see how it plays out. The cup worked fine, so let’s see how the meta changes once people are used to everything.

unlocks.. meh as a medic i love the BB adition but other then that i couldnt care less.

Ok firstly, great job all round admins. Nice map pool, nice sponsor, nice unlocks (not that unlocks make a difference anyway!). Tbh, I’ll be happy as long as there’s no flare gun.
I don’t think anyone reads this, but there is a decent amount of support for Gravelpit to return looking at these comments. For me it’s the ultimate test of teamwork and coordination, and most of us miss the map (as shown in these comments).

Gpit was removed because teams didn’t pcw it outside of the few weeks prior to match weeks. The time it takes to play was the deciding factor, not the map itself. It was kept in for many seasons based on its merit as a map. Turbine was removed because of similar reasons. I don’t think these comments are a reasonable place to decide that the majority want the map back because the people who want it back are far more likely to comment than those who are happy.
This map pool is very strong, tried and tested maps which will really show a team’s ability across the season rather than just who managed to find the most pcws on the map as was the case with gpit and any new maps that are in the season.

But yeah it would be nice to play gpit and crossaint or viaduct mby? I think that making some kind of community map voting before the season would be a good idea too.
5 maps for 7 weeks? umm, “top teams don’t have time to practice so much”, really? Oh yeah you need to learn2badlands, forgot sry.
Unlocks? Imo only gunboats will impact the gameplay.

The signups only open on the 2nd of January – you’ll have a whole week to get your team application in. Signup order doesn’t matter until the 9th.

The unlocks are a great change I just think it’s a shame that we only made this changes because we got shat on by the Americans at i47, with that said I’m looking forward for the next season and I’m sad gpit and viaduct didn’t get added to the map rotation, and 3 weeks of snakewater upset me.

Liking the unlocks, about time things got freshened up a bit. Reminds me of the good ol’ days in S8 with the crit-a-cola :D
As for the maps I’m pleased with them though I wouldn’t have minded having another new map forced on us like you did with process because its the best way to get a new map played. Maybe you just felt there wasn’t a strong enough candidate which is fine I suppose :]
