Final Day Action Preview

Date December 5, 2009

Season 6 comes to a close tomorrow night and we’ve picked out four key games for you to look forward to.

FakkelBrigade vs Illegal

Nobody in their right mind would have predicted that Netherlands FakkelBrigade would be in contention for second place in the last week of the season, but here they are, just six points adrift of finishing behind the championship winning European Team Dignitas. Fakkel Brigade seem to have finally settled on a roster that’s solid one through six and their carefree style of play has been matured since last season.

They will have to dominate Finland Illegal over two maps to steal second place, though, needing the full clutch of points to leapfrog them for second place. If they win one map and draw the other they’ll finish joint 3rd with Finland Power Gaming.

Eat Them All vs Rockit

European Rockit need just two points from their encounter with Sweden Eat Them All to take the Division 2B title and earn them direct promotion to Division 1 for next season. It won’t be straightforward, however, with their starting medic Finland Depch missing for the game as he recovers from a fractured leg. Whether they will use sub medic Netherlands Amonsilas in his place or opt to use a merc remains to be seen.

Eat Them All haven’t played Turbine yet this season, and they’ll need a huge game from each of their players to win both maps. If they manage to pull it off, they’d jump to a three way tie for first place with Russia Team Empire and United Kingdom Dead Cows Strike Back.

ETF2L wishes Depch a speedy recovery!

Nobody’s Fault But Mine vs Rejects

Division 3B’s winner will be decided in this game. European Rejects, the strong favourites for this division are two points behind Spain Nobody’s Fault But Mine, so they need to win one map and at least draw the second to finish first. That could prove tricky on a couple of difficult maps to predict – Gravel Pit and Fastlane.
