Monday Night Madness #1 – Prolane

Date April 12, 2010

Well the first Monday Night Madness is upon us, and it’s quite exciting! 32 teams have entered, and have been split into two brackets – higher and lower. Matches will be played every 45 minutes, with the results to be submitted to the website in the usual way.

I don’t want to write another lengthy post explaining everything, so this will be a simple summary of the details.

Map: cp_prolane_rc3 (Download here)
High Bracket: Click here
Low Bracket: Click here
Round1: 20CEST
Quarter Final: 20:45CEST
Semi Final: 21:30CEST
Final: 22:15CEST

Please contact your opponents in #etf2l on IRC, so ensure at least one of your team is in there at all times. If you have any problems with contacting your opponents, please talk to an Admin.

Finally – It’s very important that matches start on time and are played on time. If you match is going to start more than 10mins after the scheduled deadline, please reduce the map time on the server to 15 or 20 minutes, to ensure that you get the game played. If your game is late and no score has been submitted, nor has anyone spoken to an Admin, we reserve the right to use  a coin flip to decide the winner – or in a serious case to disqualify both teams.

So that’s a brief summary of what’s happening and the times you should be playing! Good luck to all teams :) Please look out for the feedback thread at the end of the tournament so that we can get some valuable feedback about the map.

Game of the Week: Broder vs SpecialAttack on ETF2L Radio TONIGHT

Date April 11, 2010

Sunday night showdown

On this post-i39 Sunday evening, ETF2L Radio are delighted to be back casting games on the legendary FB Mumble! Following our coverage of the Grand Final between Dignitas and Power Gaming – you can watch the VOD on Fileplay here – we’ve picked an exciting Division 2A game to follow: Broder vs SpecialAttack!

Both these teams are vying for the top spot, and thus automatic promotion to Division 1, and neither of them have incurred a map loss yet. With the maps being Gorge and Freight, could we see the unveiling of some interesting new tactics that tip the balance in one team’s favour? Tune in to find out!

Who do you think will win?

Monday Night Madness – Sign Ups Open! Extra Week for Season 7

Date April 5, 2010

Signups open for Monday Night Madness

You can now sign up for the first Monday Night Madness, to be held next Monday at 20CEST.

This competition has only 16 32 spaces, so sign up fast to avoid disappointment! Please remember you need a full 6on6 roster in order to sign up, as per the usual competitions. See the previous news item for further details about the competition format.

**UPDATE** 32 teams have signed up and the 2 cups are now full. If your team has not signed up but would like to play, you can add your name to the waiting list using the sign-up link above. This will reserve a spot should a team drop out.

Season 7 Extended

Due to the hugely exciting i39 tournament (check Cadred for the full story) and many other LANs happening this weekend, we have extended the season by one week to allow teams time to catch up. This week will be at the end of the season, so please continue to schedule your games normally. Many of you will be finishing soon anyway, there is no need to delay games that can be played in the correct weeks.

Announcing: Monday Night Madness

Date April 3, 2010

What is Monday Night Madness?

As we’re nearing the end of Season 7, there are a number of maps which I would like to see tested with a view to including them in some of our future competitions. At the moment I have half a dozen maps on a shortlist, which will fit into a number of one night cups on a Monday evening.

“Monday Night Madness” is the terrible name that I have come up with for these tournaments (sorry!) If these tournaments go well, I will look at continuing them in the future with a mixture of current and other new custom maps.

How will it work?

Similar to previous one night cups that we have run with ETF2L and Esports Heaven, the cup will be played in one evening. To start with it will be a 16 team competition, single-elimination. So your team will play between 1 and 4 games, depending on how far you progress.

The first round will be drawn randomly by one of the ETF2L IRC bots live in #etf2l. After this round each of the games will progress through the standard tournament structure, with one map to be played in every game, including the final.

When is the first cup and how do I sign-up?

The first tournament will take place on Monday 12th April, and will feature the map cp_prolane. I will open the signups on Monday 5th April @ 20CET, and teams will be able to sign-up as per usual through the ETF2L website. The first 16 teams to enter will get to take part in the cup.

Are there any prizes?

These tournaments are intended to be fun cups which will allow you to play new maps with your clan and also to help us test new maps and see if any are worth considering for our future competitions. There will be a feedback thread after each tournament and all constructive feedback will be very welcome. Depending on the success of the tournaments, it may be possible to think about some prizes in the future – we will see!

Questions?

If you have any questions, please feel free to add a comment on this thread or you can come and talk to me (D2M) in #etf2l.

Hopefully you guys are as excited as I am about the chance to play some new maps and help us to assess the quality of the new options that are open to us for our future competitions.

Summary:

  • 1st Tournament: Monday 12th April 2010 @ 20CET
  • Signup Date: 5th April @ 20CET
  • Map: cp_prolane (should be _rc2, but we’ll confirm this before the tournament starts)
  • Teams: 16 teams
  • Setup: Single-Elimination
  • Rules: ETF2L Ruleset/Config – All 6v6 teams can apply.

Game of the Week: Dignitas vs I Don’t Know? on ETF2L Radio

Date March 29, 2010

Monday Night Mayhem

I Don’t Know? will be looking to take revenge upon Team Dignitas after a humiliating ESH Sapphire Challenge finals defeat that ETF2L Radio covered last week.

With a revamped roster – including Wai, who played very well against TCM-Gaming yesterday, and former scout of the season winner Shintaz – I Don’t Know? will need to play Obscure with the same confidence they found in their 5-3 victory over TCM last night.

Who do you think will win?

Casting the action live for you tonight will be Byte, Anderson and Swarley.

Join us as we take a look at whether I Don’t Know? learned anything from their previous week’s ESH loss, Appe’s return to the Dignitas line-up, and how the games tonight will effect Division 1 as Season 7 heads into its final stages.
