Season 7: Division 1 going down to the wire

Date April 15, 2010

it’s getting hot in here

The league tables are getting super complicated. Let’s break it down:

Team Dignitas

Current record: 14 maps played, 9-2-3, 29 points

Maps remaining: 2 (Granary and Gorge vs TCM)

Best possible finish: 1st on 35 points

Dignitas need the full 6 points tonight from TCM if they realistically want to defend their ETF2L crown. Of course, we all know that they’re more than capable of winning on Granary. But how have they done on new maps? Their only lost points of the season, apart from a loss on Gravel Pit (vs idk?), come from new maps: a loss on Gullywash (vs PwR), a loss on Obscure (vs idk?) and a pair of draws on Gullywash (vs www) and Gorge (vs FB).

TCM-Gaming

Current record: 10 maps played, 7-1-2, 22 points

Maps remaining: 6 (Granary and Gorge vs Dignitas, Freight and Gorge vs The Last Resort, Badlands and Gravel Pit vs FakkelBrigade)

Best possible finish: 1st on 40 points

If TCM lose 2 maps against Dignitas tonight but win their remaining 4 maps, they would finish on 34 points, 1 point behind Dignitas.

I Don’t Know?

Current record: 12 maps played, 8-0-4, 24 points

Maps remaining: 4 (Freight and Gorge vs FakkelBrigade, Badlands and Gravel Pit vs bE)

Best possible finish: 1st on 36 points

Despite FB’s draw on Gorge yesterday versus Dignitas, idk? shouldn’t be too worried: not only do they boast a 2-0 Gravel Pit at Dignitas’s expense, they also have an excellent grasp of Gorge compared to the other top teams.

Power Gaming

Current record: 12 maps played, 7-0-5, 21 points

Maps remaining: 4 (Granary and Gorge vs bE, Badlands and Gravel Pit vs idk? Frog)

Best possible finish: 1st on 33 points

While Power should be fairly confident in winning the full 12 points available to them – assuming they avoid emo disasters – their destiny isn’t entirely in their own hands. With 33 points, Power would ideally want Dignitas to take 3 points from TCM tonight, then for TCM to take no more than 7 out of a possible 12 points from FB and TLR, and idk? to take no more than 8 out of a possible 12 points against FB and bE.

If that hypothetical actually happened, Power would win the league on 33 points, and Dignitas, idk? and TCM would be in a three-way tie for 2nd place on 32 points each.

Although highly unlikely, it’s still mathematically possible for FakkelBrigade or what women want to win Division 1.

Game of the Week #3 – Dignitas vs TCM on ETF2L Radio

Date April 14, 2010

ETF2L Radio #8

In what must be the most organised hour of ETF2L Radio history, we’re announcing the next game we’ll be casting, with more than 24 hours notice!

Ranked as the top team in March following a decisive victory at i39, Team Dignitas currently sit top of the table and look to defend their title as winners of ETF2L Season 6. With a game in hand and only 3 points behind however, TCM-Gaming are right behind them and the winner of this match could be crucial in deciding who walks away as champions of one of the closest Seasons we’ve seen in a long time.

Facing off on Granary and Gorge, the game looks set to be thrilling. Dignitas are known for their dominance on Granary, but don’t have a particularly great record on maps new to the map pool, so TCM have a chance to shine and take some crucial points in the title race.

Bringing you the casting will be Dave, Exfane and Swarley. All the details are below:

  • Starting Thursday, April 15th at 21.15 CEST
  • SourceTV: fakkelbrigade.eu:27100
  • Mumble cast: fakkelbrigade.eu / port 64740
  • Join #etf2l.radio for shoutouts!

Good luck to both teams, see you on! :)

Monday Night Madness #1 – Prolane

Date April 12, 2010

Well the first Monday Night Madness is upon us, and it’s quite exciting! 32 teams have entered, and have been split into two brackets – higher and lower. Matches will be played every 45 minutes, with the results to be submitted to the website in the usual way.

I don’t want to write another lengthy post explaining everything, so this will be a simple summary of the details.

Map: cp_prolane_rc3 (Download here)
High Bracket: Click here
Low Bracket: Click here
Round1: 20CEST
Quarter Final: 20:45CEST
Semi Final: 21:30CEST
Final: 22:15CEST

Please contact your opponents in #etf2l on IRC, so ensure at least one of your team is in there at all times. If you have any problems with contacting your opponents, please talk to an Admin.

Finally – It’s very important that matches start on time and are played on time. If you match is going to start more than 10mins after the scheduled deadline, please reduce the map time on the server to 15 or 20 minutes, to ensure that you get the game played. If your game is late and no score has been submitted, nor has anyone spoken to an Admin, we reserve the right to use  a coin flip to decide the winner – or in a serious case to disqualify both teams.

So that’s a brief summary of what’s happening and the times you should be playing! Good luck to all teams :) Please look out for the feedback thread at the end of the tournament so that we can get some valuable feedback about the map.
