Monday Night Madness #2 Roundup

Date April 20, 2010

This evening we saw another succesful Monday Night Cup take place on cp_coldfront_rc2.

There were two brackets, a high bracket and a low bracket. Essentially this worked out to be a div3-5 bracket and a div6 low bracket, but it was still pretty fun and there were some very entertaining games.

Low Bracket: Click here

Congratulations to the winners of each bracket:

Low Bracket
European Lethal-Zone Green
Russia Team Slayers
Germany Team 4 Friends
Russia Foxhound

High Bracket
UK Knifeback Mountaineers
Russia RageQuit Black
England Cable Internet Clan
European Hadouken

With regards to time-keeping, something which was an issue last week – I’m very pleased to say that the 29 teams who competed were excellent at both their time-keeping and also informing the Admin team of any delays. This was really great work from all of you, thankyou for understanding and for keeping us in touch with what was happening. By playing on time, you managed to ensure both cups were finished in one evening successfully.

Unfortunately, as you can see by “29 teams” in the previous paragraph, this does mean that there were 3 teams who did not compete in today’s tournament. For two of those teams, they are going to take spots 2 and 3 on the ‘no longer welcome’ list. These two teams managed to sign up to the cup on Sunday evening, and completely forget they were playing/drop out of the cup at the very start without speaking to an Admin or even giving us a chance to replace them. The third team, signed up by mistake and were gracious enough to let us know of this BEFORE the event, thus allowing us to replace them in the competition. Because of this, I’ve given them the benefit of the doubt for next week. The following two teams are banned from all future Monday Night Madness cups:

  • Russia Say Yes Sucker
  • Poland c64

If you can’t play in the cup for whatever reason, please for goodness sake, let an Admin know so that we can replace you with a team from the waiting list. We had 15 teams waiting for an open spot, and 2 of them could have actually played instead of you.

Anyway, it was an enjoyable cup to watch and there were some fantastic games. One of the highlights for me personally was seeing a very organised UK Knifeback Mountaineers side absolutely destroy European Hadouken 7-2 in their Semi-Final. This was quite unexpected as many people had Hadouken down as hot favourites to win the cup tonight.

Please give your feedback to the maker of cp_coldfront_rc2 here.

Please give your general feedback on MNM #2 here.

See you next week! :)

MNM #2 – cp_coldfront_rc2 and Season 7 Reminder

Date April 18, 2010

Welcome to Monday Night Madness #2

Welcome to the second edition of the Monday Night Madness cups, this time featuring cp_coldfront_rc2.

The cup is a one-night cup, and will start Monday 19th April 2010 at 20:00CEST.

We will be looking to include 32 teams spread across 2 brackets in this cup, high and low.  If considerably more than 32 teams sign-up, it may be possible to add in a third bracket. We’ll see how it goes.

High Bracket: Click here
Low Bracket: Click here
Round1: 20CEST
Quarter Final: 20:45CEST
Semi Final: 21:30CEST
Final: 22:15CEST

Please contact your opponents in #etf2l on IRC, so ensure at least one of your team is in there at all times. If you have any problems with contacting your opponents, please talk to an Admin.

VERY IMPORTANT: As you have no doubt seen and realised if you have participated in or followed previous cups, accurate timekeeping is very important. There are a number of rules with regards to time-keeping that you should be aware of and please try your best to follow:

  • If your cup match is starting more than 10 minutes after the scheduled round start time, you must inform an Admin.
  • When your match starts more than 10 minutes late, please reduce the map time to 15-25 minutes, depending on how long you have left before the next round starts. Bear in mind that if the map finishes in a draw, there will be a golden cap period to follow.
  • If your match finishes in a draw, you must play a golden cap round to decide the winner. Please reset the config and play a 5 minute golden cap round. The first team to cap in this round, wins. If neither team caps within 5 minutes, the team that holds cp3 at the end of the 5 minute period wins.

These changes should stop any problems occuring from teams forgetting about the time and playing a very long golden cap round. The most important thing to remember is that the Admins are here to help you with your questions or problems and if you run late for whatever reason, talking to us will give us the opportunity to help you solve that problem.

MNM #1 Roundup and MNM #2 Announcement

Date April 16, 2010

Monday Night Madness #1 Roundup

Sorry for the delay with the round-up of MNM #1 – cp_prolane_rc3.

A fun evening was had by the majority of teams last Monday night, with only a couple of mishaps causing some issues. Almost all of the feedback received on the cup was great and it’s certainly possible that we will feature the map in some competitions in the future.

The winners of the Low Cup were Russia Team Slayers

The winners of the High Cup were European I Don’t Know?

Congratulations to both teams, although the High final was marred by one of the semi-finals finishing very late and thus both teams getting disqualified for not informing the admin team of the status of the game.

Please ensure that you give map feedback here, so that the creator of the map UK Spence can listen to your thoughts and make any improvements necessary.

Following some issues in the first cup there are a couple of teams banned for forthcoming Monday Night Madness cups:

For the record, both Insane Dutch Killers and Stripclub are full of players with fantastic attitudes, but I have to be very strict with time-keeping otherwise these cups will end up pointless with finals never getting played.

In future cups, if there is any delay of more than 10 minutes, you must inform an admin. I will make this very clear in the sign-up post for the next cup. The only extremely important rule in these cups is time – since it’s all in one night, and effectively played in around 3 hours.

Monday Night Madness #2 – cp_coldfront

Monday Night Madness #2 will take place on Monday 19th April 2010. The signups will open on Sunday 18th April 2010 at 20:00CEST – please look out for the longer sign-up and welcome post on Sunday for more details.

The map will be the latest pro version of cp_coldfront. Note: ‘pro’ is the version without the falling snow effects.

MNM #2 will again feature 2 cups of 16 teams each, giving a total of 32 teams. There is always the possibility of making further sections of the cup if signups prove to be really popular, but please ensure that you only signup to play if you are actually going to take part and complete the cup.

Thanks for reading and I look forward to throwing snowballs at you on cp_coldfront next Monday :)
