Experimental Cup #4: Cup Day

The Wrangler-less Highlander Cup takes place tonight!

Signups will close at 18:30 CET, and brackets will be published here before 19:30 CET. There will be 6 brackets with 8 teams each.

Make sure your bodies are ready – if you can no longer participate in the Cup, please contact admins to remove your team as soon as possible. Contact your opponents as soon as the brackets are available – if your opponents cannot play, they may be replaced with a team from the waiting list.

Experimental Highlander Cup #4

Wrangled sentries are a key part of any A/D’s map defense, and overcoming them has been a challenge every Highlander team had to learn to deal with. Some believe it to be a true test of teamwork, others would like nothing more than see it banned from every League under the sun.

What if this staple element of Highlander gameplay was cut, just like that? Would it make A/D rounds a lot faster and more exciting? Would Engineers find new ways to utilize their Sentries on defense, or switch to Mini-sentries altogether? Would someone finally discover practical use for the Short Circuit and Rescue Ranger?

There’s only one way to find out.

Highlander Experimental Cup #4 features three A/D maps from Season 4 and one special rule – No Wrangler. The Cup will be held on one night – Wednesday, March 20th, and Highlander teams of all skill levels, including Fun teams, are invited to sign up. Teams will be grouped into brackets of similar skill where applicable, the number of brackets depends on the number of signups.

ETF2L Season 14 powered by Twitch Premiership Playoffs: broder vs BFF

The day has come. The titans will soon be unleashed to clash against each other and only one will be left standing. The match everybody’s looking forward to now is broder versus BFF (an introduction to the teams and available streams can also be found on our playoffs page), which will begin in just a few hours, at 21.15 CET. Still awaiting the first map pick, one might wonder if after kaidus‘ heavy metagaming, shared in his pre-game interview you can find here, broder will pick cp_snakewater as the first map for the match. Should such case occur, it is uncertain whether BFF will still struggle there and eventually crumble under heavy pressure or they are simply luring the Swegians into their sophisticated trap. Either way, as we might expect the loser to select cp_badlands or cp_process for the next map, both teams will have a perfect opportunity to prove themselves in different environments. Will the mighty Viking spirit manage to overcome the sheer damage output of kaidus and his crew and how will BFF cope with the absence of their pocket soldier hocz and his one time replacement CaptainHax?

Admirable: Hello citizens of ETF2L. This is your Premiership Ambassador speaking. Welcome to the first of a four part ETF2L Season 14 powered by Twitch Premiership Playoff Interview Series, where we will be delving in to the minds of the rockstars of European 6v6 in the lead up to the brutal crescendo to the season that is the playoffs. Today I am joined by Jason Allen, Season 13’s Demoman of the Season and team captain for the number four seed, BFF. You may know him better as kaidus… what’s up brother man?

Kaidus: Uhm yeah. Hey! What’s up!

A: Well, in seasons gone by I might have broken the ice with some insightful questions about Team Fortress 2 fashion, but no more! I’m on the hunt for drama and I ask you to hold no punches here. I want you to speak your mind, Jason. Are you game?

K: Am I game? Yeah I’m game! I had actually looked up the name of my hat in preparation for the questions, but I guess we’re keeping it serious. What do you want to know, man? We’re practising for the first game… hopefully not the last game!
