Monday Night Madness #1 Roundup
Sorry for the delay with the round-up of MNM #1 – cp_prolane_rc3.
A fun evening was had by the majority of teams last Monday night, with only a couple of mishaps causing some issues. Almost all of the feedback received on the cup was great and it’s certainly possible that we will feature the map in some competitions in the future.

Congratulations to both teams, although the High final was marred by one of the semi-finals finishing very late and thus both teams getting disqualified for not informing the admin team of the status of the game.
Please ensure that you give map feedback here, so that the creator of the map 
Spence can listen to your thoughts and make any improvements necessary.
Following some issues in the first cup there are a couple of teams banned for forthcoming Monday Night Madness cups:
- Infernal Gamers – Banned permanently – for leaving after one round and calling the map ‘shit’. This was not in the spirit of the cup, and you are no longer welcome to compete in any further MNM cups.
Insane Dutch Killers – Banned for 1 cup – poor timekeeping and not informing admins of a long delay in their semi-final.
Stripclub – Banned for 1 cup – poor timekeeping and not informing admins of a long delay in their semi-final
For the record, both Insane Dutch Killers and Stripclub are full of players with fantastic attitudes, but I have to be very strict with time-keeping otherwise these cups will end up pointless with finals never getting played.
In future cups, if there is any delay of more than 10 minutes, you must inform an admin. I will make this very clear in the sign-up post for the next cup. The only extremely important rule in these cups is time – since it’s all in one night, and effectively played in around 3 hours.
Monday Night Madness #2 – cp_coldfront
Monday Night Madness #2 will take place on Monday 19th April 2010. The signups will open on Sunday 18th April 2010 at 20:00CEST – please look out for the longer sign-up and welcome post on Sunday for more details.
The map will be the latest pro version of cp_coldfront. Note: ‘pro’ is the version without the falling snow effects.
MNM #2 will again feature 2 cups of 16 teams each, giving a total of 32 teams. There is always the possibility of making further sections of the cup if signups prove to be really popular, but please ensure that you only signup to play if you are actually going to take part and complete the cup.

Why do we need another version of a map for the weather effects, while there is a client side command to disable weather effects?

cp_coldfront_rc2 released which flags (thanks to valve) snow to weather effect, which can be removed from multiplayer options. no need for _pro

I would suggest to Infernal Gamers that they do not carry on being morons on this news post, should they wish to participate in any further ETF2L competitions.
Pretty sure your MGO wouldn’t be pleased to see you banned from tournaments for being idiots.

With regards to contacting admins… The match between Stripclub and Insane Dutch Killers started 25 minutes late at 21:55, the match start time was 21:30. They reduced the map time to 20 minutes which was a good move, although 15 might have been better given the fact they were going to have 0 minutes left. The map was drawn and they played a golden cap that lasted 20 minutes. The golden cap started at 22:15, which was the start time for the final. Knowing that they were already running late, both teams really should have been aware of this.
There were two times that either of the teams should have contacted an admin to inform of the delay. Firstly, starting a game 25 minutes late – this is where you should be contacting an admin to say that you’re running late. The second time they should have contacted was before the golden cap round.
Please be aware of the time when you are playing. It’s very easy to overrun if you are not paying attention. Unfortunately there is no room in these cups for teams getting 20+ minutes late. If you can’t stick to the simplest rule set that is “play on time”, then we’ve got a problem.

To be fair, I don’t see what banning them for 1 cup actually achieves. Normally it would be a punishment for doing something wrong, but both teams followed the rules and found themselves in a situation the admins had never anticipated.

Adam – See the news post for MNM #1. The only thing I really stressed in it was that teams had to play on time. It does clearly state that teams can be disqualified for being very late. Unfortunately this was the case here, and the subsequent ban shows people how serious being late is.
It’s one of the reasons why so many of the one night cups here and at ESH are ruined and the finals have to be played on another day. A one night cup is all about… “one night” :)

Where? Look at screenshot, anly waiz typed “worst map ever”. Yes, map was rly bad and we had ONLY 4 players, ask team31. They didnt allowed 2 mercs, and we played for ~10 mins 5vs6. After match we decided to give def win to team31, cause we havent enough players (only 4) and map was totally unplayable (for us). But nobody from admins contacted me or ph to understand a situation… gj

Question i’d like to ask is.
Why enter a cup for that specific map and then slate it? Is it rage? or Is it immaturity? Either way your own fault for joining the cup :|
Next time make sure you ask someone who can read for your in whatever language you understand to explain what map it is your playing. Then i would download it and then view the map. Take a look use those 2 pairs of eyes that you have and see if you like the design the game play and so on…
If you do discuss with your clan? Then if they agree as well after doing the same process then enter the cup?
Sounds very patronizing but slating someone for putting time and effort into any map and a cup regardless of IF the map is good or bad is inexcusable.

I would like for ETF2L to make a push for div1/2 teams entering this cup. Talk to div1/2 teams and invite them to the HIGH cup (so they don’t have to manually sign up for the cup).
I love these cups because they give an unique opportunity to discover and learn new maps. But being the only div1 team in MNM #1 was pretty boring. :/

To understand is any map so good for competitive tf or not you need to play cw or pcw on this map. Thats why you decided to organize MNM series. Right? So its impossible to say “ye, this map is very good lets add it to map pool” just using “2 pairs of eyes”. You need to play against somebody.

surely if you don’t know the map, 2 possible solutions would be:
– have as many pcws on it as you feel you need, or
– participate in MNM and have a chance to play it many times in one night.
I don’t see how:
– signing up for MNM and then ragequitting causing hassle for everyone
is a valid option, especially when you then go on to act like kids in front of the rest of the community… especially not when you’re sponsored…

Two of our guys couldn’t play and we played with two mercs. After we beat team31, we decided don’t play next match and gave defwin to team31. Yes, someone of us didn’t like this map and he wrote it in game chat, but ban for personal opinion and insulting our team for this its too much i think.
