The admins and Chess are completely fine with a reschedule to a later date for the sake of making a real grand final happen, instead of Strong Opinions versus a mix team, or eventually just a default win for Strong Opinions to save everyone a Saturday evening.

All teams were told at the start of January that playoff games had to be played by a certain date. We were told by admins there was no wiggle-room for these dates, in particular, that if we fell into the Lower Bracket, we would be forced to play without alle & Thalash (who were at Rewind). We weren’t happy, but accepted this on the basis of the limitation of the schedule.
The date for the final, we were told (at the start of January) was to be played before the 29th. People have planned around this (Emilio has a work trip, Steve has exams, others have 6s, etc) and so we’ve organised ourselves based around those dates. It hasn’t been perfect (we were missing multiple people this week ourselves, we don’t have a full lineup any of these days) but we’ve got on with it. We’ve made ourselves available every_single_day this week, as seen in the first post.
I’m not sure why the admins were prepared to force us to play without our main roster (should we have dropped to the LB), but when it comes to Chess, they are happy to let them delay because they are missing a few players. Why the preferential treatment? Delaying will probably leave us even more short of a full roster; it’s ok to gimp our team in a Grand Final because Chess are threatening to default?

Forced to play while missing two players? We’re missing atleast four each day this week, but SO apparently couldn’t fine a single date during next week, the week after, the week after that etc. when they could play.

fucking shitty teams in this so called PREMIER division who can’t even take on the most unstable fucking team plagued with roster issues. honestly what the fuck is your problem? this shitty division is fucking dead, there are no good players and a team can just pick up a random assortment of old players, have 0 stability and still come 2nd.

The 6s prem grand finals was delayed by almost 2 weeks as well.

SO gave 4 days they can play before the deadline and thats literally any day before deadline, so if the enemy team can’t get their players to play in said Grand Final and then complains how SO doesn’t want to play later now that might be quite petty.
Seems pretty bad that chess can’t play entire week up to Saturday. Also seems bizarre that 6s final can get put off by 2 weeks but hl can’t, I guess in 6s the teams agreed to this. On the whole, an excellent season of highlander! Now everyone go play 6s or ow (can comfirm the latter is much better)

Hello, sorry that I’m chipping in this late. I went to the USA for pax east but spent the last few days in bed with a fever.
1)Stop sending hurtful comments towards the league and SO. Rules are there for a reason and we couldn’t propose 3 dates before the deadline. In the end, objectively, chess is wrong in this
2) most of us honestly don’t care that we weren’t able to play the final. We had a fun season and met our goal to reach the final. Even with a full roster SO were favourites. In the end we would have had to play an official with a minimum of 4 mercs, which everyone is terrible. Even more against the strongest team in Europe.
3) We always had a good relation with the other teams and SO. And I want it to keep it this way. The hl community is small enough as it is, we don’t need this drama. (Again most of us don’t care)
4) in the end we are to blame, including myself. Apologies to SO, the admins and my team that we have to end this season on a sour note.
I hope we can forget about this, we have next season to look forward to.

From what I understand, SO said its impossible to play after Sunday, and the days before that were not possible for us. The admins said they were totally fine with doing
The finals another date, but SO didn’t want to. So the “classic chess” tone seems a bit misplaced considering it was only SO that didn’t want to delay.
Sorry for writing on another team’s match page (first time) but only writing as Hildoge mentioned me. The single difference was that CJ was within the rules and got a default, but we were within the rules and did not get a default.

@nightmare I don’t suppose that HL elitists such as yourself are any better either, to be defending a gamemode that is struggling to get even 100 teams or teams across all 4 divisions when more people want to jump their way to prem instead of playing in high (where half of current prem hl belongs tbqh)

It’s a game, we were supposed to have fun, I think it’s not as hard. Idk why it’s so hard to delay match and have that fukn fun. Rules were made to make everyone enjoy the game. Yes, everything made in rules, but now are u feeling good with dignity of winning final without real match?

~130 teams for 6v6 is around 800 players.
HL had 71 teams, which means around 640 players.
20% difference in player bases isn’t really enough to claim that one is dead without the other one being as well.
So either both are dead or neither is dead, and we both know which one it would be.
