We request oli’s POV demos for both maps.

  15. ETF2L Staff said:

Dear team “Ugandan Pizza Police” ,

As requested by your opponents please upload the demos of oli within 72 hours or face a penalty in accordance with the General ETF2L Rules.
You have to use the ETF2L demo upload system for archives under 60 MB, third party hoster links will be ignored.
Minor warnings for missing demos can be removed later after talking to an admin, as long as the minor warnings of your team did not stack up to a major warning yet.

2.4 Every player has to record Demos

Demos can be requested by an admin or any player of the opposing team.
Admins may request demos up to the end of the competition the match was played in (until the wrap up post is published). They can request as many demos as they require.
The opposing team can request demos up to 48 hours after the match was scheduled to start. They can request demos from up to 2 players, who will then have to provide their demos for all played maps.
A player whose demos have been requested has 72 hours to upload the demo, starting from the time the request was made.
Failure to supply a requested demo will be punished.

2.4.1 Penalties for not providing requested demos

Failure to supply a requested demo will result in one of the following penalties:
    – First time: Minor warning for the team. This warning can be removed once the requested demo is provided.
    – Second time: Major warning for the team. Player is banned for two weeks from all ETF2L competitions.
    – Third time: Player is banned for two months from all ETF2L competitions.

Penalties are applied if a requested demo is not provided within 72 hours. Major warnings and bans are not removable.

1.4 One merc allowed by default and up to 3 mercs if the opponent agrees

One mercenary is allowed by default and up to 3 mercenaries are allowed if the opposing team agrees. In order for your merc to be allowed by default, he cannot be more experienced than your team overall. Experience in other leagues is included. Opponents can allow exceptions. To use more than one merc, you will need specific approval from the opponent for each merc.

Use the match page to present mercs and ask for allowance. Even the default merc has to be presented, so that your opponents can make sure he is not too experienced. If you wish to contest the default allowance of a merc, please contact an admin (support page), so that he may decide whether or not the merc is too experienced.

All mercs have to be registered on ETF2L. Teams caught using an unregistered merc, or a merc without their opponent’s permission, will receive a warning and a default loss.

    Dear Teams,

it has come to our attention that team “Ugandan Pizza Police” was using an unapproved merc (oli , http://etf2l.org/forum/user/92328/) for this match.

As a result they will receive a minor warning and the official will be defaulted in favor of team “Team Rocket”.

2.5 Abusive chat, nicknames and avatars are not welcome

Try not to use the chat function during a match unless it is in a positive manner. Any offensive chat as well as spamming binds may lead to a warning for your team. Chat abuse and racist or offensive names/steam avatars will not be tolerated and may be punished with warnings or bans.

In addition to that team “Ugandan Pizza Police” will receive another minor warning due to one of their players ( oli ) spamming and using the ingame chat in an abusive manner.

Repeated violations of this rule will result in a harsher punishment.

  20. shades: A51 - pizza said:

this is ridiculous, oli was rostered immediately after the match

  21. kuma': kanye said:

we dont care about the flaming one but oli was accepted like HELO????

  22. shades: A51 - pizza said:

We were told that oli was approved as a merc by bern, also this is a conversation between Setsul and oli (tagged as original) before the first map began, taken from http://logs.tf/745470.

    Setsul who are you
    original w
    original i am
    original kaptain
    Raipe ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
    Setsul u sure about that
    original yes.
    original noobs
    original go blu.w
    original or i 9v1
    Setsul etf2l says otherwise

As you can see, Setsul checks etf2l and only says that he is not kaptain, meaning that he doesn’t oppose the fact that oli is in the server.

  23. bern: kanye said:

I approve of the warning for flaming, but even though I forgot to copy the conversation between me and Deo, i can assure he allowed oli as a merc. Since I can’t prove he has accepted him, I am going to rely on Deo. If he doesn’t have the chat logs from that minute, I can’t do much about this. But I can assure you he has accepted oli as a merc.

  24. kuma': kanye said:

since when random accusations get so easily accepted we might as well just throw random stuff by saying we didnt accept their merc either there u go def win for us now?

  25. shades: A51 - pizza said:

In Deo’s bad sportsmanship claim, oli links the combined logs. I combined both the warmtic logs and the process logs after the match had ended. This means oli said that outside of the match, this could lead you to infer that Deo made oli’s text himself, and that oli didn’t actually say that. Deo and oli have never been friends on steam so this could not have been said in steam chat.

  26. Deo: x22 said:

rshades I refer you to the comment made on my steam profile if you are in any doubt of flaming

  27. Nublar: kanye said:

Deo, he posted that 3 hours after the match, on a match you werent even playing, how does this count as flaming on the match?

  28. Nublar: kanye said:

lose the match, better complain to the admins to get a default win

  29. shades: A51 - pizza said:

What you claimed oli said isn’t on your profile

  30. Sparky said:

I have been playing this game for a long time and this is quite easily one of the most atrocious things I’ve seen happening. A team, that allowed a merc unofficially due to time constraints and issues with internet (which, may I remind you, was THEIR LEADER losing connection), after losing the match suddenly decides that they were clearly the better team so need to find some stupid excuse to try to get a win.

First, they try to catch oli cheating, and probably expected him to not have any POV demos recorded so they could get a few easy warning onto us. This was foiled by oli actually having the demos, and showing he was actually just good, not a hacker.
Next they tried to get Pizza by saying oli was being offensive and showing “bad sportsmanship”, even going as far as to FORGE A CHAT MESSAGE to try to get their point across. This not being enough to get them what they want, they finally go back upon what they had agreed earlier, BREAK THE TRUST that the leaders had created before the match, and claim that oli was infact not approved.

What’s even more ridiculous is the amount of evidence we have showing that Team Rocket was FULLY AWARE that oli was a merc, and yet still decided to Ready Up and start the match, even if they weren’t sure if he was approved or not, probably hoping to grab an easy default afterwards if they lose. Obviously our most important piece of evidence, the chat logs of the approval, are now long gone due to Steam not storing chat logs far back enough. And even if they did, we couldn’t get them now since their leader MYSTERIOUSLY decided to remove all of our leaders, instead of discussing anything at all about this issue between ourselves. Why would anyone not trying to get something illegitimately do that?

The enemy leaders have been uncooperative and unfriendly, and it’s quite clear that they are finding loopholes in the system to exploit and claim a win that they don’t deserve. And of course the admins will take their side, since they cannot look beyond the pixels of print that are the rules, despite the fact that these rules are supporting the cause of (in this case) liars and sore losers.

Not a word was said from any of their leaders about this- simply lost match –> claim default. Not a single shred of integrity trying to sort it out between leaders like a good SPORTSMAN would, not a single amount of humility accepting that they were the worse team. Fully aware of the fact that we had a merc, they decide to go back on a bit of unofficial good nature and try to claw back a win. And succeed. This is not what I expected from a league running TF2 competitions for so long.

I know there are rules, and I know they are strict, but when real life happens there are agreements done, things said, actions done that do not strictly follow the rule, all in the spirit of the game. This is something I find that Team Rocket are lacking, and although I wish them the best of luck in the future of this season, I think that their lack of professionalism, nature and friendliness won’t get them far. Or maybe it will, since the rules obviously seem to help them in that nature.

I hope the leaders see the obvious flaws in their rules and try to make sure no other team has to go through this.

    Blasting off again,

    Sparky.

    P.S. yes, I am mad

  34. skyro: #SaveMelee said:

there’s an easy fix for this

if you ready up, you agree to all match conditions, mercs included

I technically don’t have any links to either of these teams aside from shader showing me this juicy textwall made by a salty gamer, but both teams are at fault, one for being dumb enough not to copy any god damn chat logs(seriously, even Graba does this, how could you forget to do this on the night of a flippin’ official?), and the other for being stupid enough to ready up while being “unsure if a merc was approved or not”

Match should either be replayed or the win should be given to Pizza, considering they won in the first place. Just my two cents.

God damned useless shitstorms, the biggest production value on ETF2L.

I don’t have anything to do directly with pizza since i left it (yet only Etf2l,not UGC) in this matter though it just seems unfair. If the team was actually aware oli was a merc as it seems from the chat log before the match started it just seems like really bad sportsmanship to just go and try to get points anyways. Sometimes you should just accept being the worse team, hell even learn from the experience of loosing against a better team.
But 1 thing I can say 100% certain: Pizza’s members are surely no liars, nor would they just randomly get a merc without asking for permission, this seems like team rocket just not accepting to lose and trying to get points the unfair literal “team rocket” way. This is just really bad sportsmanship which i didn’t expect on etf2l even less in a higher division than 6 or open since those people usually are more experienced.
In my opinion since you cannot prove either approval or disproval of oli i think you should leave things as they were (with a win for pizza) or at least have the match played out again (although even that seems quite unfair to pizza) since no one can prove nothing regarding this. The only thing seeming obvious is Team Rocket being desperate for a win, accusing someone good of hacking and after being disproven just looking for some other loophole to get points. Then again trying for other teams to get warnings for insulting the other team after the hacking accusations seems also quite desperate and not like a fair thing to do since you could ruin a whole team’s experience for a whole season and knowing pizza i can assure you NONE of the players would really insult someone even when provoked.
P.S.: A good sport can take a loss even when they “didn’t approve” of a merc even if they had lost they could still get into playoffs and “prove” them being “better” than the other team.

  38. nachodog1661256: SENS said:

What @Skyro said, They should not ready up unless they’ve checked the players beforehand, and still have the decency to complain about himnot being approved. I mean, you were ready, that means that you have checked the enemy roster for any faults(like unapproved mercs, and oli was an approved merc.) and hitting that ready button means that you have done so,if oli was an unapproved merc don’t you think they would have noticed before the game started?

If “Team Rocket” actually gets through with that –> rip faith in comp tf2 admins

  41. Sparky said:

The ideal way to play this game is to recognize what it actually is – a sport. Not everything is about following the rules to the bone, especially when it’s so blatantly obvious what they are trying to do. And as @Eis says, what stops a team from forging stuff in the comms itself?

Don’t try to avoid the fact that the rules have flaws in them. I have great faith in ETF2L but this is frankly quite shocking. It’s like the smartest kid in the class forgetting how to say his own name- ETF2L are forgetting what they’re representing.

No offence to anyone but the point of ‘he saw who he was and didn’t oppose’ is invalid, did you ask for him as a merc like the rules ask? and the “team lost get default” isn’t as bad as “get default loss cry about huge injustice” if you’ve tried sorting it out and got no where just leave it, you can still won every other 6-0 and make play offs. Please just deal with it if it’s not gonna get changed Ugandan pizza police.

  55. Simply™ Bob™ said:

It’s not Ugandan Pizza Police that lost, it’s sportsmanship. And as a side-effect, everybody’s respect towards etf2l admins. I guess that even when playing something that we don’t get paid for, just for fun, people still prefere crying to get a win that is possibly not going to end up mattering anyway, but just to have it. I can’t even understand how someone can be happy for a “””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””WIN”””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””” achieved this way. And admins letting this go. This is just obnoxious. Enjoy your win I guess.

hello guys, i will try to resolve the issues with those involved in the game tonight, i have returned from my yorkshire voyage to see my long lost boy sneaky-http://etf2l.org/forum/user/78334/. apologies for my absence, but it seems that a player who i dont know has played the largest part of conveying my team’s feeling’s, ‘setsul’ so i ask that you disregard the comments 1. that are made on the behalf of my team but not me a leader and 2. that are made by players who do not participate in the league games or management of teams involved. hopefully we can sort out any issues that pizza has with this outcome

  57. Gregoravich: DADFITES - VaC said:

i have spoken to my deputy who profusely insists that the player was not accepted, if you can prove this wrong please let me know, also, sorry if people have been upset by this and i think it’s important that we realise that the etf2l admins have not chosen to have this outcome, they have just plugged the situation into their rules and out came a default win for us, if a merc is not accepted but plays, and the other team queries, then it is a default win. i am sorry that this is the way that this has worked out and it is likely that the better team has lost out here, but this is how the etf2l mechanism is.

  58. $neaky: (ETF2L Donator) - A51 - hp said:

@Nublar. Yes it has always been my thoughts on competitive. If I ever get a default loss I just accept it, even if i think its wrong because after past experiences there’s no point even trying to get it changed.

  59. Useless: TC.Noobas said:

Poor Pizza Police, they are such nice gamers.
However this is ETF2L, only way you could of prevented this from happening is to document everything between leaders. Proof is so much stronger than just claiming something, no matter if it’s true or not.

Learn from your misstakes, there is no shame in them.
