Apparantly skyride argued for our case for a good hour too, as anyone could clearly see they were trying to steal the win.

It’s clearly futile trying to argue about the legitimacy of what they’ve done, since it’s entirely within the rules.
What I want to know, though, is why do you actually play in ETF2L? If you’re trying to win and get to the highest division, that’s great, but if you don’t win promotion based on actually playing games then chances are the admins won’t put you in a higher division next season and even if you do you won’t be good enough. I don’t doubt that you guys are pretty skilled but surely if you have any confidence in your own ability, you’d want to play?
If it’s for fun, it clearly isn’t fun not playing the matches and getting promoted to a division where, once again, you don’t deserve to be. You guys may well beat us in a match, but you should at least play us to decide rather than artificially win.
For your own sake, I sincerely hope you figure out what you’re trying to do in this league. I couldn’t care less about a default loss, but I care for the sake of you being decent people that what you’ve done makes literally no sense for whatever you’re trying to achieve.

Hello DAROUTOUTOU and Parrot Gapers,
After reviewing this case with the admin team and pointing at rule 7.3, we realise the default win was awarded too quickly. Judging by the evidence on this matchpage and from what both teams have told us, it seems that neither team has done sufficient effort to get this match played before the match was supposed to start. We do not think posting a connect string after the supposed start of a match is sufficient effort.
As we consider both teams equally at fault, we decided the only fair decision is give you another chance to play this match. We’ll give you untill sunday to reschedule this match, if this does not succeed, another default date will be set. I hope both teams have learned a lesson about documenting scheduling efforts on the match page. It goes without saying we are going to watch your efforts closely in the following days.
Additionally, we are handing out a minor warning for flaming to Parrot Gapers.
Kaidus and Snoozer will also receive a temporary forum ban for flaming.

We never received any friend requests. Also Gubb1ns already had Flippy in his friend’s list. Tek (which is one of the the leaders) has to had him because he never did it. We’ve sent you the Connect after you said “We’re ready”. We waited 15 minutes. No one showed. You were not really ready.

I don’t understand the point of having the choice to default win if you can just invalidate a default win like that.
The connect was given, nobody showed up after 15 mins, and nobody made it sound like they were ready.
I don’t even understand why is there even an argument going on; if the team didn’t show up 15 minutes after the scheduled match time, they should lose, shouldn’t they? Or is knowing a few admins is enough to walk around the rules?
We got a default lose because we couldn’t show up to our previous match, and yet nobody gave a shit.
I’m willing to play that match but I absolutely don’t understand how can you just ignore all the rules. They weren’t here. We were here. It’s as simple as that. That’s how it works and that’s how it has always worked.
And spare us the casual anti-french racism, not all of us are French and besides I don’t understand how being a jerk is going to change anything.

It’s quite simple, onirik:
– There was no scheduling attempt on the matchpage from either team.
– The time it was supposed to start Darou asked for the connect info.
– 3 minutes later Gubbins asked one of you to accept his friend invite.
– The only response to that was the connect info to your server, 4 minutes later.
– 12 minutes after posting that you claimed the default win.
– Status screenshot showed only 1 person on the server for 34 minutes, the rest on 8 minutes or less.
There is not enough proof that the correct procedure was followed, nor is there any proof of any kind an agreement was made on the server.
And this is while ignoring for a second the connect info was given after the match was supposed to have started already.

We gave a default win to the other team on our last match.
You know why? Because we missed a player and that the opposite leader didn’t wish to make the match later.
It grants our honesty more than any screenshot of any whining team.

If you think you have proof that you can add to the case feel free to give it to an admin on IRC, screenshots work best.

They wanted to play the match another day; we didn’t. They refused to show up, we did. The attempts were done successfully and privately between our leader and theirs.
They’re taking advantage of the fact that we asked for the default win earlier because we KNEW they wouldn’t come as they stated by themselves, but they’re denying it.
The irony is that, even though they’re denying the fact that they wouldn’t come and they are working to invalidate that win, they still didn’t show up in due time.
How is it fair to NOT give us the default win since they (and yes you can doubt that) didn’t want to show up this night, and IN FACT they didn’t show up this night.
I’m not looking for a default win ultimately, I’m looking for fairness. The team has been insulted and we’ve been cheated over, I refuse to admit any of their statement that are only aimed to discredit us.
It looks like as if you’re looking for ANY little reason to blame us, when we were supposed to SIMPLY play a TF2 match, and one team didn’t show up, while notifying us they won’t because they would have liked to play on another date.
No proof was given of any scheduling attempts. Nothing was posted on the matchpage prior to 20cet. Your status screenshot showed that you had 9 on, of which 8 people were on the server for half the time normally needed for a defaultwin – or less than that for most.
How is it fair to not give you a default win? It doesn’t work like that. You have to show you deserved it, that you did everything necessary. We have not received that, and as such can not justify giving a default win.
Grow up, and play the rematch. Stop whining about it.

MC Salo: I don’t know where you can even come up with all that. Firstly, there was no conversation with Tek as far as I know. Secondly, I didn’t even hear anything about a football match because well, I don’t watch football. I don’t know what you are going on about with that…
And thirdly: I didn’t ask anyone to say anything. People who posted, did so because they wanted to.
As far the whole argument about there being no friend requests, why would gubbins write on the match page ASKING for you guys to accept the request?? Did that not give you a clue that MAYBE we were trying to contact you? And did you not see the other part of us being ready??
And why would you even lie on top of that all, by saying you waited 15 minutes. The screenshots and timestamps blatantly show you didn’t. We weren’t told about joining any server, because we were trying to contact your leader to arrange a server. Next thing we know, we have a default loss. Just admit you tried your best to sneak a default and you know it.
I would also like to end this by saying, nobody from team punchline was involved in this really. The 3 members from punchline are just that, members. Flippy kindly asked me to go through what happened here with him, because he was completely unaware.

The screenshot was taken at 20:15. The game was supposed to begin at 20. There were conversations between Tek and Gubbins and Flippy and Gubbins. We knew you would never come. It’s just pure dishonesty. We never received friend requests (tek has to had him), here is the true lie.

Yes indeed. From both teams we got 2 option: Thursday & Friday. We don’t set default dates to friday if avoidable. So 1 choice left. If you didn’t want thursday you could have made a comment on the matchpage: “Thursday is not possible for us, these days are possible: x, x, x”. Problem solved.

There is no hard rule for this except for common sense, you are a member at etf2l for almost 2 years, surely you have noticed there are always very few games played on friday and saturday, because people do other things on those days. When I first joined etf2l and did my first default dates they told me the priority for default dates is Sunday > Thursday > Tuesday > Monday/Wednesday > Friday > Saturday. I’m now quite experienced as an admin and have taught the same guidelines to other admins.
I’m sorry if you think I was mocking you, that was not my intention. But I do not appreciate that you question my partiality in this matter.
I quite literally stated when I announced the admin decision that we would read the comments on the matchpage very carefully. In fact we always do when we decide a default date. The conclusion for both teams after the whole mess with the first date should have been that communication is key, sadly both teams failed at that again. Which is a pitty and something you have nobody to blame but yourself.

as pointed out we kept proposing dates you rejected constantly and the default date is set to what we wanted anyway if there was a problem why not just say rather than all this cloak and danger stupidity.
