To be honest, I think we put up a good fight with 5 v 6. We had mercs ready, but apparently KOS don’t allow mercs as they have bad experience from past seasons with mercs being “kids”. Ironic considering they behaved so childishly. They wouldn’t allow us to play Vince from BiG as a merc, even though he was in our division and had 300-400 ping.
I had fun, but seriously guys, you need to actually question your reasoning behind these inane rules you’ve created. We’d be ok with it if one of our players just didn’t show, but our Scout’s (Lex) PC broke today, and I think you could have shown better sportsmanship and sympathy.
GG though, it was… an experience.
Oh and by the way, I don’t want to start a flame war or anything, don’t take any of that as provacative behaviour. I was just stating the facts. Politely, in my opinion.
as i see on your etf2l page you have 9 members in your team, so this conversation is pointless.
if you would have only 6 members we would agree.
We agree to any date match, but we don’t agree to mercs in that (9 members) situation – we have wrote this on our etf2l page.

just an answer.. i m sorry that you coudn’t get 6th player from your team. Sad that team that is very skilled and probably will do a lot in higher divs has problem with main lineup (even if it is only technical). For example we had one player waiting on teamspeak for possibility to play. Anyway… I m sure that you would probably beat us other day. From here i wish you got luck. Cya in future.

Real shame that even though we rescheduled this game so that they could play, they wouldn’t allow us to use a merc when our 6th’s computer broke. They just kept saying stuff like ‘shit happens’ as you can see in the match comments. No matter who I suggested as a merc, I was just told no.
Its really unfortunate because its pretty much ruined our season promotion hopes but I guess these sorts of teams occur in division 6, just a real shame that they would prefer to win and be unsporting then to have a good fun game.
Our other 3 players on our team page had other commitments (and so were not online when our 6th dropped), when I found 6 players that could play this date I didn’t realise that if one of our players had computer problems preventing him from booting, that Klan Old School Generation would be so unsporting in not allowing us ANY merc at all.
Was a bit disappointed with their decision, but what can you do?
We put up a fight at least.

Although my annoyance still remains (naturally :P) it’s good that it’s been settled maturely. I’m happy with the way we played, and besides, it’s just a game, not the end of the world.
I don’t think it was a compliment, the ellipses suggest that it was entirely sarcastic.
To expand on that, the attitude of KOS reeks of default hunting, and the comments after match (especially that last one, I don’t know how you read it literally, the ellipses are incredibly telling) suggest exactly the same.
Whether there are 6 or 9 players on the roster does not make a difference when it is clear that the reasoning is legitimate.
wp pH, hope to see you in div5 anyway, you definitely have the skill for it!

Wow, didn’t know this was rescheduled on KOS’s demand, makes it so much more ridiculous to not allow mercs.
The ellipses may not have had that purpose Chris, as I wouldn’t count on Regis having a great knowledge of English. I’m not going to search for an excuse to continue this bickering any further than it needs to go anyway. If he was being sarcastic, so be it. Haters gonna hate. :P

This is our 3rd season in etf2l, and 2nd in esl, and we were letting our opponents to use mercs till the last season, after that we have decide to not do it. We are writing about this on our etf2l page, so everyone sees this.

The reason is simple.
We have some situation that our opponents choose to use mercs behind our back, some of them use 2 mercs, some of them used unregistered or higher division players, and one of them want to play with 4 mercs (lol). And at last we don’t like to see situation that merc have second score (on the first place is medic).
We want to play with team that we set up to play, not with mix sorry.
To let our opponents play in full squad we are rescheduling the game for opponents demand, and waiting for them to let them play in full 6th, but us I wrote previously:

So what you should do? You should talk to us that you don’t have full team. Some of us was online on steam all day, is it hard to ask about rescheduling the game? I tell you that we would agree. You choose to play with merc. I tell you one more thing, we will let you play with merc (from now on we will not do this to any team), if you did not have 9 members in your team. We were voting and there was 6 votes against, I think it is because of our experience with other teams.
Why do you judge us guys?
Why do admin talk about fair play, when we have right to not letting somebody to play with merc (see 1.6.6 rule)?

As I clearly see this rule was change in 5.3.2010 (lool, after 6 season, nice progress etf2l). If you want to let teams play with mercs set another rule:
f.e. “only one merc from even or lowest divisions allowed”.
Or do what esl do “no mercs allowed” (we like this rule, because we don’t have to explain anything to anybody).
P.S. like onebugfuse wrote, we don’t know english well, so sorry for mistakes and misunderstanding what you have wrote.
P.S.2. @ [½]³ thank you for rescheduling (more thanks would be if you would reschedule your date no default date). We would reschedule yesterday match if you asked us about this. Don’t worry about this season, and learn from your teammates who wrote:

You don’t have everything under control. Sometimes there are circumstances beyond anyone’s control, like a computer breaking down at the last minute (as in this case). How should he contact you prior to that event? ‘Hi KOS, I have a gut feeling my clanmate’s PC will break down today so can we reschedule the game in case that happens?’.
If pH has the decency to reschedule the match when you can’t get a full line-up, then you should have the decency to allow a merc or rescheduling the game. It’s very easy to blame pH for not asking to reschedule, but why didn’t you suggest this yourself? Of course you can say that you have the right to deny a merc, but pH had the right to force you to play the game the first time, and they decided to do the fair thing and reschedule the game. If you decide to deny a merc when pH has some line-up issues, then don’t cry that you are being judged and called out for unfair play, because that’s exactly what happened. Trying to justify denying ONE merc by saying ‘we’ve played against teams using 4 mercs’ will only make you look stupid. Cube has been transparent to you from the minute he knew he couldn’t get a full line-up, giving you the ETF2L page from the merc (so you knew who you were gonna play against).
I think you are just full of crap because you know how important this match was for the final standings in our table and that you would have lost if you had played them 6vs6. So gg and wp KOS, you really deserve this chance to fight for promotion.
my english is well enough to understand what you are talking and you to understand what i have in my mind. One thing is interesting for me… as i know.. we didn’t reschedule the game. The time was set up once and we have played that day. Reason why we didn’t play during the week 9 was same from my side and pH’s side.. there is no talk about rescheduling.
one more thing to Chris.. i was not sarcastic. they were killing us. in my opinion they have played very well and they should play in div 5 next season. but it doesn’t change my opinion about taking mercs. for me it should be forbidden.

I don’t agree with your arguments , and i don’t know why you write sth here and try to insult us.
In my opinion PH place is in division 6th not 5th (sorry Regis).

Every match is same important for final standings. I will say more: Every MAP is same important for final standing. The last part sounds like you think we have broken CPU of their scout. bah!
Firstly regis, read the 2nd comment. We did reschedule the game for you, after the default date was set. Why? because we wanted to play a fair match where both teams could put out a full lineup.
As for us ‘talking to you before the game about rescheduling’ our 6th’s computer didn’t break until 30 minutes before the game and Reg came on just 15 minutes before the match and I let him know straight away. I had sent request to add various leaders from your clan as soon as our 6th’s computer broke but none of them accepted me.
I just think its bad that you didn’t allow us to play with a merc or give us the option to reschedule. Maybe one day we can arrange a war 6v6 with you guys and give you a proper game. We could have Source TV running so that all these people who care about this game and have written on here can watch the proper game with a proper result?

So essentially, KOS let experiences from playing other teams cloud their judgement and prejudice them against letting pH use a merc?
My comment still stands tbh. This was an important match, and you guys clearly knew this. Making your opponent play with 5 is pretty cowardly, to the point where any victory should feel pretty empty to you.
I respect that you don’t want to let mercs play against you because you’ve been ‘hurt’ by it previously, but look at how many other teams in the league actually want a good game 6 vs 6.
Best of luck in the play-offs, if you make it. And I hope that you reconsider your rules regarding mercs for the future, so that you can try your best to help your opponents play on a level playing field. Yes it’s a league, and yes sadly too many teams are results focused, but remember that we play this game because it’s fun and we enjoy it. :)

It is not about clouding judgment, it is about etf2l rule that was stupid (good that in march rules was changed a little bit)

Wow, GJ. You could have stated that a bit less crudely, but instead dug yourself a deeper hole.

If I was you, I’d have rather lost this game than having people on my back for being unfair.
And that link serves no purpose, if you actually read the comments on that page you’d see that it was handled with no hostility or complaints.
I’m just going to let this simmer now, no point in beating a dead horse.
lol at you looking through every game we had to find the weakest ladder game you could find. The ladder as it stood was a joke where we never had any fun because we were playing against teams 2-3 divisions below our skill level. The leader of TDS was a good friend of mine, and as you would notice if you read a match page rather than just sitting smugly like a happy little piggy playing in faeces, you’d actually see that the match was finally sorted 7 weeks after it was originally scheduled. It was at a time when we were finishing all outstanding ladder games and dropping from the ladder where we had been at the top for the preceeding 4-5 months. You will see that they agreed to a default loss, and you will also see that we were still friends afterwards. It’s a shame the same can’t be said for you really isn’t it?
If your search had been thorough and you’d put some effort into trying to say something to me, you’d see league games such as this one – http://etf2l.org/matches/13453/ – where we let 3 mercs play against us in a match that cost us an automatic promotion spot.
My point is that it’s only your attitude that will ever stop a merc from being used. If you want to be known as a complete joke, then you can force your opponents to play with 5 players and you’ll quickly find that no-one wants to play you anymore and you get a crap reputation.
Or you can be kind, like in my example above. People recognised Vertex for fair play, and 29 people nominated us for a fair play award.
To me – I’d rather I had respect than beat 5 players.

P.S. Teams that become well known for having bad sportsmanship have been stopped from competing in the league before. Make sure you don’t join that list.

Admins that don’t respect the rules they have created and admins that don’t treat every team even are bad admins.
I hope someday ETF2L will have one consistent statute.

Regis, not attacking you pal. I’m shocked and disappointed that in Season 7 of this league, there are still teams forcing their opponents to play with 5 players. You’re lucky more people didn’t see this :)
They’re all classed as mercs mate :) You’ll see that by looking at the player list taken from the status screenshot. Green = registered, red = unregistered, yellow/orange = unverified. It’s like a traffic light.
Read the league rules – this season the rosters closed at the start of week 9. Last season they were closed at the start of week 8, which meant that teams were unable to add any new players until next season. So we allowed the 3 players to play, who were all counted as mercs to the league system. If you want to understand that rule further, look at past news posts regarding “locked rosters”.
With regards to your game against Team Pwnage (http://etf2l.org/matches/13966/), you allowed 2 mercs to play against your team who were both low div4 level. In my opinion that’s a bit of a crazy idea considering you are and were a division 6 side, I think that’s something you realised from your comments on that match?
I think it’s always important to consider the skill level of a merc of the team you want to play against. A good rule of thumb is to let a merc play who is in the same division as you or lower. I still don’t see why you wouldn’t allow your opponent 1 merc from division 6 though, to ensure the game was played fairly 6v6 and would actually count for something???
Anyway, I’m bored of repeating myself, and I know from past experience that ignorance will always overcome reason with certain teams.

mate, you have a lot of right in what you are saying.. as long as they wanted Vince from BiG to be their merc it is same thing that you have described. BiG was a team thet won with us easly 5:0, 2:0. that means his skill was higher than ours. Div 6 is crazy. There are new teams which could easly play in 5th or even 4th div. Before I didn’t allow to use merc i asked who he gonna be.
I asked you for 3 different mercs, vince first (BiG), then LtMama then I asked if we could use someone from our community who is registered on etf2l (for the highlander later) but has never played a game before. You said no to any mercs.
Plus BiG are very similarly skilled to us (as I’m sure any of their team would agree) we play with and against each other regularly and we always have very close games (look at our match if you don’t believe us). So 2 of 3 mercs were in div6 and the other wasn’t even in a division? But no, not allowed, because you wanted the points more than you wanted a fun game. Real Shame.
Regis, we had a wonderful match against pH that ended in 3-3 while both clans almost had their full line-up. The match and the mixes we did after that have shown us that we are about evenly skilled :) It’s not like Vince raped pH on his own and that’s why pH wanted him to play :)
