Hello everyone!
I recently came back to TF2 after a pretty long break and been playing alot of pubs lately. I really want to get into some competitive gaming but i really can’t find how to do this…Tried alot of channels and searched around on forums. Apparently i don’t have enough gaming time (total of 250h since the start of TF2). I get the feeling that the tf2 community doesn’t really trust “new” players… I consider myself to be a pretty good player and i really want to learn some competitive TF2! If there is a good soul in these forums, could you please help me out? :)
Your first thing to do is watch some 6v6 and see how it works, you should then join a tf2center game at http://tf2center.com/ and practice with whatever class it is you like, once you’ve played a few times and are comfortable you can join a div6 team and start playing some scrims as a team, you can make a recruitment post at http://etf2l.org/wp/wp-admin/index.php?page=recruit
If you in fact want to play highlander then just joining a div6 team is probably enough because there isn’t too much to learn but you still want to play a couple of center games first either way.
I appreciate all the answers! :) I tried playing at tfcenter but apparently am i not welcome there with my 300h gameplay.. I feel very confident in my gameplay and i’ve reached a point in pubs where i don’t enjoy it anymore (I consistently end up on top of mvp) and i just want to try out something more challenging. But it seems like i need to farm 700h worth of games just to be welcome into any kind of ranked gameplay..

Are they really still enforcing a hours limit on center? Wow that’s pretty unbelievable if they are seen as this is literally the lowest form of comp, well I guess you can join a newbie mix group, something like this http://steamcommunity.com/groups/nlpg
An hours limit can be enforced by the lobby leader, but is not enforced by default.
First have a read of 6v6 basics if you already havent. Indeed practice is the best way to learn but playing without any knowledge is just useless.
Then start with some lobbies on tf2center then move to tf2pickup. Ask someone you know if you can mix with him/them or add some people that plays 6v6es and ask to be called for mixes

Even though most of the videos are over two years old it is still a very good resource:

Add me if you like. I like helping people. Mainly because I can’t help myself.

Incorrect. There’s a limit of 100h to prevent alt. accounts that get used for hacking.

Ah glad to see people are finding it helpful! :)
I’ve also written a bit of text on the subject of off-classing: http://spikehimself.team-colonslash.eu/off-classing-in-6v6/
No guarantees that it isn’t a pile of bullshit though!
