With demoman, you want to put out as much damage as possible in a short span of time, hidden stickies are prefered since they wont have much time to react if used properly. You can obviously use a mixture of the 2, get a pick from ur hidden stickies then push in since it is likely that splash damage has hit other enemy players.

If your team is shouting to spam stickies when youve already played hidden, just call that youve played them and spam pipes.

You as a demoman, should know yourself what to do in a certain situation. If someone tells you you must spam stickies and you know it better yourself… srew them and do what you think is best.
