Yes, thats DirectX 8. If you haven’t set it to run in directx 8, its probably because you have an older graphics card that can’t run DirectX 9. But anyway, try this just to check.

Go into steam, and your games list. Right click on Team Fortress 2, then click Properties. Go to “Set Launch Options” and type in this:
-dxlevel 91

Then hit ok and try to load TF2. If it crashes or doesn’t load, then sorry you have an older graphics card and the only thing you can do is buy a new one.

Also, if anything is already there in “Set Launch Options”, don’t delete it, copy-paste it here.

as already posted, i think its about ur dxlevel… if u really want super cool looking weapons, then just tick the highest possible options in ur in game video options.

i assume since u are new to the game, that u dont really know about launch options.. maybe u played cs or css and im wrong who knows. basically dxlevel 9 is default..

another question: how many fps have you got? i dont think that u want to mess up ur fps with an ultra beautiful game.

If he’s not forcibly set it to dx8 then that will just reset it to dx8 anyway…
