Can't hear certain sounds

Hey!
There’s a bug I’m experiencing with the sound in TF2. Sometimes, certain sounds cease to play just randomly. The trains on well/freight, critical hits, the sound when the camera snaps to your killer and even the sound of HWG’s Natasha shooting are among those sounds that stop playing.
Specs:
Windows 7
AMD Phenom II X4 945
ATI Radeon 4650
4 GB RAM
I have had this problem since a while back, and I’d guess it started after some update of TF2. Anyone got a solution?

what motherboard/soundcard do you have?

I have Realtek sound drivers (or atleast Realtek HD Audio Manager in system tray).
Open up net_graph 3 an see I’d you’re experiencing high loss, which often results in sound files not playing.
You cshould also try and do an online test for the quality of your connection, I’ll try and find the link now.
There’s no loss at all when I check what it says in net_graph 3. However, the sound is now back when I alt-tabbed back in to check. So, that’s how random it is xD

Looks like all that writing for Cadred is affecting you :P
try putting snd_restart into the console. does this fix it?
EDIT: also to save dave the work, http://www.pingtest.net is a good place to check line quality

Will try when problem occurs again. If it works I guess I’ll bind it to a button and use it as a temp fix. ty!
There seems to be no problem with my connection according to that site btw.
i often have the heavy saying “kiss me” like he does when he taunts with his MG. even though im playing demo.

is that really a bad thing though?
I guess you’re joining through steam server search or friends list? If so, stop doing that, since it may cause bugs like that. Just join through game.

It’s p-rec’s kill streak notification. Happens when you spawn.

Hm, I can’t tell if I’ve joined through friends or not those times that this has occured, but maybe you’re right. thanks
