Mic Boost?

My Mic is ridiculously quiet in games and anything else, as such I have to boost it in applications like mumble when I use them. Now, I’ve got the Mic Boost and all that jazz turned on, mic record volume at 100%, so I can’t change anything there.
Was wondering if anyone knew of a way to boost this with any software, constantly, in the background?
If not, and any of you have any idea about such things, whether it’s possible to buy (or even make *le gasp* by soldering your own circuit) a mini hardware amp for the 3.5mm jack it uses.
And no, my soundcard software has nothing of that ilk on it, so I removed it :P
–On a sidenote, anyone got some kind of 5.1 test file that uses the same tone for each speaker but pans round them all? The inbuilt windows one uses different tones which makes it kinda funky for telling where stuff is.
Kthx

I have simular issues, my mic is insanely quiet in games even though I have all the boosts on. Oddly mumble and vent seem to be slight exceptions for me. So I would be interested in anything anyone can throw your way aswell…

If Mumble and Vent are fine, it is the application that is the problem. I assume you’ve checked the voice settings in game?

yes, though I shall double check later.
However a boost in mic volume would be nice anyway, having mic boost on means people can hear everything in the room with me.
Aye, it’s basically TF2 is too damn quiet with the mic, I might just buy a more sensitive clip on one to deal with it, because as far as I’ve been able to find out, there are no commands with actual numerical values to increase mic record volume in tf2, aside from those sliders :S.
