Tried updating your bios?

This is all I could find on a quick google search;

1. I have just installed the release candidate and had the same problems. I found out that a device attached to the pc was the problem i.e. an epson usb printer. While this was switched on the pc would not shutdown, however as soon as it was switched off the pc would shutdown. Maybe you could be having a similar problem. Check to make sure all your connected devices are powered off and then try and shutdown. If this helps then you know that it is device related. If not, it is worth trying. As I said it is what was causing my problem.

2. FOUND my problem.

I had to remove my M-Audio Delta 1010LT soundcard from my system. Actually, just removing the driver (completely) solved the shutdown problem. I have gone back to the onboard audio until I can get updated drivers for 7 from M-Audio. I’ll give it a shot then.

3. Here’s the solution!

Click “Start”, on “Computer” click right mouse button and select “Properties”, click “Device Manager”, select “IEEE 1394 Bus Host Controllers” group, only contains one device called “VIA 1394 OHCI Compilant Host COntroller” on that click right mouse button and select “Properties”, select “Power Management” tab, and finally check the “Allow the computer to tur off this device to save power” box!
That’s all folks. After that the computer power down normally every time.

4. turn of firewire IEEE 1394 in BIOS. that worked for me.

Are you sure you don’t have a FireWire on your motherboard?

I have the same problem on windows 7, when i try to shutdown sometimes it shutsdown fine, other times it goes through shutdown hangs for ages then bluescreens and reboots so when i come back in the morning my pc is on with a windows error message. I found that in order to stop this happening what i do now is don’t turn my pc off ever. This fixed my problem.

You should try updating your mobo drivers. Especially if there is any acpi driver you can install, do it.

lol shut down issues are usually a result of startup services believe it or not.. google it

thats not my problem at all, thats just ur hardware/win7 causing bsod

ok, just upgraded to w7, with the build in upgrading thingy, it fixed the prob (no wonder there) so can close thread…
