this is example: http://www.sevenforums.com/gaming/41631-black-bars-desktop-resizing-issue.html
1280×1024 @85Hz = fine
1280×960 @85Hz = working at 1280×1024 and applying black pillars on top and bottom of screen to compensate missing pixels… even desktop @ 1280×960 is with black pillars… same for any non 4:3 res (except 1280×960 even tho its 4:3)
any res @ >85Hz – non existent, cant launch anything fullscreen over 85Hz (monitor supports upto 120Hz at some resolutions…) w7 overrides any refresh rate and puts on 85Hz
any way to fix the black pillars? or the low refresh rate? override it? how?
cant do it with default nvidia/rivatuner drivers as w7 overrides everything…
for res bug, found a fix like this:
To prevent your flat-panel display from scaling
From the NVIDIA Control Panel navigation tree pane, under Display, click Adjust desktop size and position to open the associated page.
Click the image that represents your flat panel display, or non-HD digital display connected to the HDMI, DisplayPort, or DVI connector.
Select Do not scale, then click Apply.
Enjoy
but: http://www.imagebam.com/image/997add57653315 ?? there isnt such a thing cuz i dont use flat panel :D
fucking nvidia and w7 -_-

I also encountered this problem, the new driver a maximum of 85hz (video nvidia 9600gt). In the old drivers for vista I was able to get 100hz. In the end, I returned to WinXp that would get a 120 hz. It would be interesting to know how to solve this problem.

went to brother to get his flat screen, and got pissed, cuz its the same (in nvidia cp) even with flat screen… fuck that, w7 sucks balls
I do not know about the desktop stretching.
But the refreshrate issue should be fixable.

I had this problem and the only way I could get above 85 hz with Windows 7 64 bit and my nvidia 9600 gt was as follows:
Go to your nvidia control panel and go to “Change resolution” under Display. Click on “Add Resolutions…” and then click “Create Custom Resolution.” Fill in the resolution and the refresh rate you want and for the Scan type use progressive. Under the timing section use the GTF format. Do not use AUTOMATIC or DMT or it will not work. Then just click test and then save the resolution and you should have whatever refresh rate you want.
THIS DID NOT WORK FOR ME THE FIRST TIME I TRIED IT. It kept failing the test at first but I reinstalled my video drivers and it worked perfectly the first time. So this may take some tinkering but it’s the only way I was able to get above 85 hz.

Wow, I hope there will be a fix for this soon then.
Was just thinking of switching to W7
Windows 7 works fine for me, 1680×1050, forget the ratio. Would recommend it to any PC user.
