Have you tried having your steam status set to offline while playing?

tried a new hard disk yet? might be it’s queueing tasks and IO hangups are the first noticeable sign of failure

Disabling Steam overlay worked for me a long time ago, but I’m not sure how helpful it is without more information about what kind of a computer you’re running the game on or what kind of config you have in use.

Well if it helps, I have old ass athlon II x2 250, ati radeon hd 4670, 8 gigs ram, win 7 64 bit, dx 8, windowed borderless. Chris higframes. Fps is usually around 150 idle, 60-70 in combat and ping around 40.

I just got home, nerd.

Yes, I did fix it by defragmenting my hard drive even though it was only 5% fragmented on both C and D disks, and I didn’t think it could be an issue at first.
