Ok, i think in the last 10 hours, my steam account got hacked between 2 o’clock British Summer Time and half 11 later in the morning, i don’t even know how this happened but I am quite worried because i don’t want this person spamming my friends with phishing websites.
This is just a warning to anybody who is on my friends list, please do not talk to my account as it is not me. My main concern is that he would have access to credit card details. Is there anyway i can remove credit card details from my account in the future if i reclaim it?
“Click on Steam in the top left corner > Settings > Account.
To the right hand of that window, there’ll be a ‘View Account History’. Click that.
This’ll bring up your account history. To the right, there’ll be a ‘Your Steam Account’ box. Beneath that, there’ll be your credit card info (last 4 digits). Click delete next to it.”
Hope you get your account back <3

Steam guard + 2-step verification pls
K my second account has no credit card details saved so hopefully my other account is the same, but ironically i just checked the inventory on my main account and it has 2 new unusuals on it.
However i think he has added more random people to my friends list.
And i believe he is actually a guy who wanted to buy my unusual in the last 10 days but i said no to his trade and he must be butthurt about it.
It massively varies. A few days is sometimes to be expected. Just be patient :]
Can the person who hacked my account steal money from my back account seeing as i used my credit card and idk if i ticked don’t save account credentials on this computer?

If you actually used your card directly then potentially yes he could take money out in the form of keys/game gifts. They would not have access to all the card details however only the last 4 digits so only TF2 items/Steam Gifts is a viable option for him/her to take money from you. Also this is only possible for them if you ticked ‘save my credit card info’ box.
If your using paypal then no since he would require your paypal password.
I’ve also seen people have accounts hacked and then they use other people’s stolen credit cards on it to buy keys. Quite sneaky.
Hope this was helpful.

Very helpful as I’ve cancelled the credit card 2 hours after i found out my account was hacked, also i checked my inventory a lot to see if he was buying a lot of keys but so far, the only difference i can see is he has taken all my unusuals and a few other hats. Other than that, no major differences so maybe i will get lucky and get my stuff back later.
