Hi guys!
I want to buy a new pc for tf2/video rendering.
I’m not a big expert in this.
I guess custom made will be cheaper, so i need help to get all parts around 350 -max 500pounds(without monitor, keyboard, mouse and headset).
lets say I need :
3+ Ghz processor(i heard intel i5 are good, not sure which one is)
video around 2gb
ram atleast 8GB
psu – around 600w
hdd – 500GB – 1TB is fine
good mother board aswell.
Thanks!

huhy’s pc looks like over 700 pounds atleast..

so my budget is 500max:
i could afford video card ~100pounds
processor ~120
case around ~50+
ram ~40
psu ~50
hdd ~50
mother board ~70
odd ~15

price of course could change for each item, but limit is 500pounds

If you wanna spend the little extra on your upcomming computer, this setup is definitely worth it.

Also you can take the price down a bit, if you go with a 500 gb or 1 TB hard disk instead. Or change that cooler with Hyper 212 Evo. And maybe less RAM. 8 gb is fine.

I thought this was going to be one of those “retshock give me money for x” threads

If you’re focusing TF2, a custom CPU cooler isn’t necessary, even for rendering maybe ? default intel one is enough but don’t forget to add a thermal paste like arctic silver 10€.

I’d still get a cooler tbh, you’re only talking around £15 for a freezer 7 pro.

If he’s not going to OC (which I’m pretty sure he will not, but he should’ve said it in his first post) than what’s the point of getting a cooler? He’ll get good enough temperature with the stock.

Peace of mind. If I was to do a lot of video rendering, depending on the quality of the graphics card it can be quite CPU heavy. Also if you don’t have a case with great airflow the ambient temperature of the CPU will be higher. It’s not a lot of money and will last you 3-4 years. Also you then have the luxury of an OC if you wish to, OCing has never been easier with todays mobo’s.

I have the stock fan and the i5, i can stream and render etc without my cpu not going over 40-50 degrees. I would say that buying an extra fan if your not going to OC is useless.

It will run much quieter though. The intel stock heatsinks/fans are pretty good but the lower priced amd ones are absolutely dire.. So loud..

Also its a component that can be used over multiple builds. It increases the life of the cpu and its just nice to have the peace of mind that your cpu is cooler. For £7 I wouldnt say its necessary, in but its not something to disregard instantly.
