STV question

I was wondering, how much of a server’s resources does STV use? Will having 10+ viewers cause any lag for those playing on the server?

The STV on our server is currently set to 32 slots, but can go higher. What do people think is the highest the viewers can be before lag will be an issue? Is 32 slots even too much?

It’s a gameservers.com server btw.

Any help appreciated.

Having 10 people should be okay, technically you should try and use relay instead. Though knowing it’s gameplayservers.com… you might have some problems :D

Yeah I know a relay would be the best choice, but that’s extra money and the STV will only be used by a handful of friends so not worth it for us. – I’ll be keeping it at 10 slots for now.

Thanks for the advice.

The gameserver and STV will share the CPU core they run on, because TF2 server doesn’t use multiple cores. That’s why you should always use a relay when you want more than a few spectators. I think keeping it at 10 is wise.

From my experience with gameservers.com highlander servers, they can handle 10 STV spectators just fine, as long as you do not have any CPU-intensive server plugins (such as DBlocker).
