Thats how my tf2 look after the update. I tried to play the game without any gfx configs and with maxframes, highframes and dx9.
Anyone know how to fix it?

I had that and I changed mat_viewportscale 1
and it semi-fixed it
Still getting fog though
Added mat_viewportupscale and mat_viewportscale to enable rendering the world at a reduced resolution. (“mat_viewportupscale 1” and “mat_viewportscale 0.5” will downscale world rendering by 50%.)
Seems to be this option that’s causing it, so Stark’s suggestion will probably fix it. Weird option by the way, whats the big difference with running your game at a lower res? Ok, I guess the 2D stuff (hud, chat) is unaffected by it. Also, weird that this option enables by default for some people?

dx8
Yeah that works but I dont really want to play in dx8. No other way of getting rid of it?
For anyone getting fog: does it only occur with my configs, or does it still occur when running in -dxlevel 90 normally?

HUD elemnts don’t render properly / at all at lower resolutions (eg can’t see chat at 640×480) so this lets you increase your fps by reducing 3D rendering resolution but keeping 2D res the same.

Dont run dx90, run dx95 or 98, at least that’s what fixed it for Stark, and I have been running 98 all along and didn’t see the fog.
I’m running dx90… don’t have fog, but all my models (player models I mean) look like they’re cell shaded – like the original trailers. Weird, but nice.

I had that as well, but the fog was annoying so I changed to 95
What it looks like
For the ones who like the “original trailers” look, this will become a cvar option in a next update: http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showpost.php?p=33205458&postcount=59
