Hello!

I get this kind of stuttering all the time latetly (the one towards the end). Basically, all the game just freezes, the sounds are on a loop, the game doesn’t react to input for about 2-5s. This happens every minute or so. From what I can tell, it does not depend on activity on screen, it can happen just standing still in spawn.

Just to make it clear, this is not an internet problem and not an FPS problem. I’ve an FPS config and have stable 60fps.

What I tried from researching so far (appearently, this problem is quite common):
reinstalling drivers (sound and video); reinstalling TF2 and steam; changing registry files (network throtelling iirc); messing around with sound options in windows’ settings; taking out my .cfg files and running with -autoconfig.

I’m all out of ideas, and my research didn’t went well…

I do not use any antivirus program. Thanks for a quick reply though :)

Tried some more “fixes”:
windowed mode; disabling aero; compatability mode (XP); reinstalling sound/video/network drivers (again); disabling steam community in-game.

As you might have guessed it, none of them helped.

Did you happen to check your taskmgr or process explorer, to see if there are any services running in the background that might cause this? Did you also check your Windows application and system eventlist to see if you got errors and warnings there? Could also be an interupt problem caused by a faulty device driver. But it’s kinda hard to tell since your description is kinda vague.

Process Explorer (bit more advanced version of taskmgr): http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896653.aspx

Have this on my notebook too
Never found a fix for it, but got a little better after lowering the sound quality
Also try some things with fps-max, vertical sync, tripple buffering, mat-queue….
What Hardware do you using?

If you say so, it might be related to HDD. My previous one simply died after playing like this for a several days.

This sounds very much like the ol’ mat_queue_mode related issue lots of people were having several months ago.. Try playing with that?

Setting it back to -1 seems to have fixed the problem. It’s quite strange, becouse I thought they fixed it years ago…

Anyways, thank you all for helping.
